Agents have been trying to get Wolves to sign Barcelona forward but a deal hasn’t materialised

Although they have only made one signing so far, Wolves have been one of the busiest clubs in the January transfer window.

Wolves signed Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims earlier in the window but remain in the market for at least one more player — ideally two.

Vitor Pereira has admitted he wants another centre-back and defensive midfielder to help his side’s push for Premier League survival.

And although it doesn’t look like happening, the Old Gold were offered the chance to negotiate with Barcelona for another player.

Agents tried to take Ansu Fati to Wolves

Marcus Rashford has joined Aston Villa from Manchester United on loan, but before agreeing to move to the Midlands, the 27-year-old wanted to join Barcelona.

Hansi Flick was keen on the opportunity but had to get rid of a first-team player to make room in his squad before pursuing Rashford.

As we know now, that didn’t happen, but according to the Telegraph, agents tried to work out a deal that could’ve led to Rashford moving to the Nou Camp.

Third-party agents, working on behalf Barcelona, offered Ansu Fati to Wolves but it wasn’t a deal the Old Gold were keen on.

Winger not a priority

Working with a modest budget and already knowing his preferred targets, it’s fair to say that after turning down the chance to sign Fati, Pereira has little interest in adding a left-sided winger to his options.

Wolves’ system, which includes three centre-backs and wing-backs, doesn’t really allow for traditional wide-attackers, so Fati would’ve struggled to fit in, and with relegation a threat, there is no time for failed experiements.

Unless something really dramatic happens between now and Monday’s transfer deadline, Fati will remain a Barcelona player and Wolves will continue to seek alternative targets.
