Wolves had a busy deadline day in the January transfer window, welcoming Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga.
Vitor Pereira wanted a new defender at Wolves and was granted his transfer wish late on deadline day.
The Old Gold announced the capture of Djiga from Red Star Belgrade, signing the centre-back after long-term admiration for the player.
Wolves had been scouting Djiga since 2022 when the defender was a teenager, finally sealing the deal on deadline day to bolster Pereira’s back line.

Nasser Djiga’s agent opens up about deadline day transfer to Wolves
Fans were delighted with the signing of Djiga, who has experienced the Champions League this season at Red Star.
The 22-year-old only signed for Red Star permanently in the summer, earning the trust of the Serbian side after successive loan spells from Basel.
Now, the Burkina Faso international is a Wolf, however, such outcome was almost not the case, as his agent has revealed.
Speaking to 226foot, Djiga’s agent Marcel Veeman admitted that the deal was ‘very complicated’ to pull off on deadline day.
“It was a very complicated deal. On Sunday night we had an agreement with Red Star Belgrade, but it was changed,” Veeman explained.
“We then had just 24 hours to find a new agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers and arrange the medicals. I am delighted for him, he deserves it. It was a long road, but we were finally able to sign with Wolverhampton today. I am convinced that this step will be a major step forward in his career.”
While Wolves had a £10m bid for Djiga accepted by Red Star, it appears that the deal hit a stumbling block before it was confirmed, making his arrival all the more celebratory.
Djiga was in demand before Wolves transfer
Fortunately, the deal was done, which was a relief for not only the Old Gold but for the player too, as Djiga only wanted to sign for Wolves.
Galatasaray were reported to have made a late swoop for the deadline day signing, with Veeman revealing that Wolves beat heavy competition to his signature.
“Since last season, many clubs were interested in Nasser. He is talented, serious, and his performances have shown that he can make a big step forward,” He said.
“However, for me, it was essential to let him progress, play more and analyse the different options carefully. We received many calls, held multiple meetings with Red Star, who value the player very much and wanted to guarantee a good sale.”
Djiga was also eyed by Crystal Palace before his transfer to Molineux was closed, with the Old Gold getting the deal over the line with little time to spare.
