After six Premier League games, supercomputer now predicts where Wolves will finish this season

Wolves have endured a very tough start in the Premier League – and Opta’s supercomputer has now produced an updated final table based on six rounds of fixtures so far.

Wolves have managed to pick up one point after six games, but it was so close to being three points on Saturday against Tottenham Hotspur.

Santiago Bueno scored for Wolves in the second-half, and Vitor Pereira’s side then played really well to nullify Spurs.

But Wolves’ resolve was broken in the 94th minute when Joao Palhinha fired in from the edge of the area.

But there have been clear signs of improvements in the last two games for Wolves, who have now started to use a back four as well as a back five.

Despite finally getting a point on the board, Wolves fans are still very worried about the fate of the club this season.

And now, the Opta supercomputer has shared an updated predicted final table.

Before a ball was kicked this season, Opta’s supercomputer projected Wolves to finish 17th, based on 10,000 simulations.

But this changed a few weeks later, with updated Opta findings predicting Wolves to finish 18th, with a points projection of 36.92. This data was shared after Wolves’ 3-2 defeat to Everton in gameweek three.

Things haven’t gotten much easier for Wolves since that game.

Although Wanderers did beat Everton in the Carabao Cup, Wolves have only picked up one point – and the latest data from Opta makes for grim reading.

Now, after six rounds of Premier League fixtures, Opta is projecting Wolves to finish rock-bottom of the Premier League table in 2025/26.

The expected points total now is 33.88, and the club currently have a 61.73% chance of being relegated.

Just above Wolves are Burnley, projected to finish 19th with 34.09 points, and West Ham United to finish 18th with 38.05 points.

Wolves in big trouble

Wolves may have finally got their first point, and fixtures may be about to get ‘easier’ on paper for a few weeks, but clearly there is still a strong feeling that Wolves will go down.

After the draw with Spurs, Gary O’Neil pointed out that Wolves face a big challenge from the newly promoted teams this season in the Premier League.

Both Sunderland and Leeds United have both made very good starts, and this is potentially a reason why new data is projecting Wolves to finish bottom.

The situation is no doubt concerning. But Wolves have at least looked much better in the last two games and crucially, the defence is looking far less chaotic with Santiago Bueno and Ladislav Krejci in the middle.

If that defence can keep tight like it has been recently, it will give Wanderers a chance to climb the table.
