Adama Traore lauds youngster Hugo Bueno after breakthrough at Wolves

Adama Traore has branded Hugo Bueno ‘amazing’, after the youngster broke through with the Wolves first-team last month.

There haven’t been too many positives about Wolves so far this season.

Results have been bad, and many players have really underperformed.

But the integration of Bueno has been a bright spark in Wolves’ gloomy season.

The 20-year-old made his debut against Nottingham Forest, and then got his first start in the next game against Crystal Palace.

Bueno has started every Premier League since, and made a fantastic impression with his fearless style.

He was nominated and then won the Player of the Month award for October, with the club then handing him a new contract as a reward for his excellent progress.

Bueno’s chance at Palace came about because Rayan Ait-Nouri couldn’t play due to illness.

He really seized his opportunity, and the man he assisted in that game, Traore, has lavished praise on his fellow countryman.

The 26-year-old said: “He’s amazing. I’ve known about him for a long time and he’s spent a lot of time training with the team and working in the gym. He’s got great discipline and has worked really hard on his body, so I know his mentality and I’m so happy for him.

“He’s still very young and has a lot of hunger to improve himself, and I’m so happy for him, because that’s the way you need to be.”

Bueno will be looking to retain his place in the starting XI once the World Cup is over.

Wolves have Gillingham in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, followed by Everton in the Premier League.

Bueno’s emergence and integration has been one of the highlights of the season for Wolves.

Sometimes opportunities come along out of nowhere, and players have to be ready to take them.

Bueno’s performance at palace was brilliant, and all his subsequent showings have all been really, really good. He’s played without fear, and with a lot of heart and guts.

In all honesty, some of the more senior players should be taking a leaf out of his book.

Hopefully, Bueno will continue to have heavy involvement with the first-team under Lopetegui.
