2025 has been a mixed year for the Old Gold, as they went from the highs of Vitor Pereira’s remarkable turnaround last campaign to the lows of going 18 Premier League matches without a win this season.
The loss against Liverpool was yet another showing from the Wanderers that did not lack heart and hard work but instead lacked in quality.
Wolves were perhaps the better side in the second half at Anfield, but the two-goal deficit from the first was too much to overcome.
There were positives to take, with Mateus Mane’s performance being one of the big ones, but it ultimately ended in what has been a consistent outcome throughout this year.
And the history books could yet again be writing Wolves’ name into them, but for all the wrong reasons.
What needs to change for Wolves to get their first win?🤔
Wolves could match Premier League loss record in calendar year

Wolves are now in danger of matching another unwanted all-time record, which, unfortunately, has been an all-too-common theme this season.
The Old Gold are on their longest losing streak in league history with 11 successive losses. And no team has had fewer points after 18 Premier League games than Wolves.
Additionally, Rob Edwards has joined an exclusive club that he wishes he was not a part of.
And now, they could match the record for most Premier League games lost in a calendar year.
Who let down Wolves the most vs Liverpool?
The Old Gold have lost 25 league games since January 1st, 2025, and in the 33 years since the Premier League began, only one side has lost more.
In 1994, Ipswich Town lost 26 Premier League matches, which means as Wolves gear up to take on Manchester United on Tuesday, they can now match that infamous statistic.
Becoming hard to see where Wolves’ first win comes from

At the moment, the prospect of Wolves magically getting points on the board is something that seems far-fetched, which in itself is a damning verdict.
The players are trying. Resilient performances against Aston Villa, Arsenal, and Liverpool in recent weeks show they have not given up.
However, they just simply do not have the needed quality to hold on and come out of those games with results.
January can provide Rob Edwards with an opportunity to rectify that issue, but with Wolves rooted to 20th place and 16 points off safety, it seems hard to understand how the club can attract the needed signings.
Sam Surridge has been linked with Wolves, but fans believe he is not a signing for the Premier League. However, Wolves may not be in a position to be picky.
