£80k-a-week Wolves star now claimed as one of the best in his position in the PL

Former Wolves winger Jordan Graham believes Nelson Semedo has developed into one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.

The Portugal international has enjoyed a terrific campaign at Molineux this season, and has been one of the most used players for Gary O’Neil.

The 30-year-old has started all but one Premier League game this season, missing the clash with Bournemouth back in October through suspension.

Pretty much every player in the squad has enjoyed some sort of improvement under O’Neil, but Semedo has reached a completely new level and in the eyes of Graham, he is now one of the very best in his position in the Premier League…

Graham has made an appearance on the latest Wolves Weekly podcast, and spoke about his time at the club as a youngster.

But the now 28-year-old also gave his thoughts about the current team – and Semedo was a player he mentioned.

He said of the former Barcelona man: “Semedo has turned into one of the best right-backs in the league this season.”

The £80,000-a-week star has had an interesting stint at Molineux.

In his first season, Semedo struggled a little under Nuno Espirito Santo, especially defensively. Under Bruno Lage, there were signs of improvement but he could still be susceptible to errors and poor positioning.

He was pretty good under Julen Lopetegui as the Spaniard made the team hard to beat as a collective, and since O’Neil has come in, Semedo has rarely had a poor game.

Semedo feels like Jonny in his first season at Wolves

It is fantastic to see Semedo finally breaking through for a lot of people now.

He has had some inconsistent periods during his time at Molineux but, by and large this season, he has been absolutely tremendous.

Semedo is so hard for wingers to get past now, and it’s always exciting seeing him bomb forward to provide support. He has just been clocked as the fastest player 30 and over in the Premier League, which is very impressive.

He is now somewhat reminiscent of Jonny Castro Otto in his first season at Wolves. The Spaniard was an extremely reliable performer and would very rarely dip below a 7/10 in terms of performance level.

We are now seeing much better consistency from Semedo at last – and if he could just bump up his goals and assist numbers, then what a top player Wolves will have on their hands.

But Graham’s claim that Semedo is one of the best in his position in the Premier League now definitely feels fair.
