Matheus Cunha has stated how much he likes playing under Gary O’Neil at Wolves, after scoring his fourth goal of the season against Arsenal.
The Brazilian was on target in the 2-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium, which was Wolves’ second in a row after the loss against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Wolves now have a good chance to bounce back against the team currently second-bottom in the Premier League.
Having said that, Vincent Kompany’s Clarets just beat Sheffield United 5-0 which is bound to boost their morale ahead of facing Wolves.
It could be a tough game, and hopefully Matheus Cunha will be in good form once again.
Matheus Cunha loving life under Gary O’Neil at Wolves

Cunha has enjoyed a really productive season so far for Wolves.
His goal at Arsenal was probably his best in old gold, and his performances on the whole this season have been good.
Yes, he has spurned some golden opportunities and been a bit wasteful here and there. But he’s not an out-and-out striker, but has still been doing a decent job leading the line ahead of O’Neil bringing in a new centre-forward in January.
Just recently, O’Neil admitted that he was in a ‘weekly battle’ with Cunha regarding the Brazilian’s role in the team and the suggestion from the manager was that the pair don’t always agree tactically.
But there aren’t any issues and there is very much a mutual respect and admiration there, with Cunha now saying: “I’m completely happy with him. He helped me a lot. We have a very good relationship and he’s very open with me, helping me a lot, and it shows on the pitch. I’m much more confident to help him, help myself and help my teammates.
“Every time you have someone behind you to push you up, to show your skills, and not only me, I think the team. The atmosphere inside the club is incredible, with him and everyone. All this stuff is good, we’re happy with that and I hope it continues.”
Cunha seems very happy at Molineux
Even before these comments from Cunha, it was pretty obvious that he is genuinely really pleased to be at the club.
In a recent interview, the £60,000-a-week star talked up coming to the Premier League and also admitted he was keen to stay at Wolves for a long time.
He has generally always cut a very happy figure since his arrival from Atletico Madrid back in January, and he seems like a very popular figure in the dressing room.
The 24-year-old is a brilliant player and could genuinely be unbelievable if he added more goals to his game.
It looks as though the plan is to bring in a new striker so that Cunha can have more of a free role, but even so, as an attacking player he arguably should be scoring a bit more regularly.
But perhaps the goals will actually flow more if O’Neil can find him the perfect foil.
