Former Wolves Women player Claire Hakeman branded Craig Dawson ‘exceptional’ after his display against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Gary O’Neil‘s side returned to winning ways, beating Spurs 2-1 down in north London and it was another top display.
O’Neil got his tactics spot on as Wolves stunned the Lilywhites in their own backyard, with Joao Gomes at the double for the visitors.
Pedro Neto was outstanding once again, but it really was a fantastic team performance from Wolves and fans are now starting to dream.
Wolves are now only six points off the 41 they managed in the whole of last season, and some form of European football is very much a possibility, which is remarkable considering the chaotic summer.
The defending yesterday was on point – and Hakeman praised Dawson for his efforts in the win…
Claire Hakeman hails ‘exceptional’ Craig Dawson after Wolves’ win over Tottenham

Hakeman appeared on Wolves’ Matchday Live Extra show the weekend to cover the Spurs game.
Like many Wolves fans, she was blown away by the performance down in north London and is excited about the last third of the season.
She credited a few players, but one man who really caught her eye was £3 million man Craig Dawson.
She said: “Craig Dawson I thought today was exceptional at the back. He just got in the way making blocks, brilliant headers, massive moments.”
Dawson was certainly a huge force for Wolves in Saturday’s game. As per Sofascore data, the 33-year-old made a remarkable 10 clearances in the game, which was easily the most of any player in the game (Max Kilman was next highest with six).
In total, Dawson completed 14 defensive actions, and also made 24/28 (86%) passes.
Dawson a rock for Wolves against Spurs
Dawson put in a really good performance for Wolves on Saturday, which was nice to see after a string of games where he probably hasn’t been at his usual level. Admittedly against Brentford, he really struggled.
The £45,000-a-week man wasn’t perfect against Spurs, and will feel he should have done better on the Tottenham goal scored by Dejan Kulusevski.
But overall, Dawson – who was branded ‘magnificent’ by Sky Sports pundit Michael Dawson – was very solid and was part of the reason Spurs couldn’t break Wolves down towards the end of the game.
There will likely be some people calling for Santi Bueno to replace him for this weekend’s game with Sheffield United. But Gary O’Neil will surely stick by his leader of the backline.
