£35k-a-week Wolves player will miss Burnley clash with future now in huge doubt

Gary O’Neil has said that defender Jonny Castro Otto will not be involved for Wolves tomorrow night against Burnley, and also cast doubt on his future at the club.

O’Neil has been speaking to reporters ahead of the game with the Clarets at Molineux, where Wolves will be hoping to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal.

It’s a quick turnaround, and Wolves are seeking a positive result after faltering a little recently.

But Wolves will be going to Molineux without Jonny in the squad, with the Spaniard’s Wolves future now in real doubt…

Today, O’Neil gave an update on Jonny, who was left out at the weekend against Arsenal.

When pressed on this at the weekend, O’Neil did not really give anything away, and there was no mention of any kind of injury and he did not reply to a suggestion that the player had made himself unavailable.

But today, O’Neil gave a concerning update.

£35,000-a-week star Jonny will not be involved again tomorrow night against Burnley, with the player currently the subject of an internal investigation.

O’Neil admitted: “If or when he’s back available, we’ll let everybody know about it. At this moment in time he won’t be available for the coming games.

“I’d rather not go into details in public. Things happen at training grounds and at football clubs a lot. The club are dealing with it.”

“We’ll update you when he’s back around. At this stage, I can’t give any more than that. That is all I know. He’s not around at the moment and if or when he is, we’ll let you know. So yeah, he’s, he’s definitely not going to be around for tomorrow.”

A worrying development

So something has happened at the training ground that O’Neil has deemed unacceptable and Jonny will not be involved until the issue is investigated and resolved.

Maybe more details will eventually come out, but situations like this are always concerning. It’s somewhat surprising as well because Jonny had apparently been training ‘unbelievably hard’ according to O’Neil at the start of November.

Jonny has not been playing for Wolves and so one wonders if it could be something to do with his game time.

But whatever has gone on, you would imagine Jonny’s Wolves future is now in real doubt, with the transfer window opening again next month.
