25-year-old Wolves sold abroad says he will ‘definitely’ return to England one day

Connor Ronan has stated that he will definitely return to England to finish off his playing career, after leaving Wolves earlier this year.

Ronan has been speaking about his time at Wolves, admitting that he was a little frustrated with his lack of opportunities just before he departed.

Ronan was sold by Wolves in January 2023, with Colorado Rapids signing him for around £500,000.

The 25-year-old had impressed enough in pre-season to stick around at Wolves for 2022/23, but he was only given a couple of first-team appearances.

Ronan has said though that he is keen to return to play in England, but not any time soon…

Ronan has so far made 38 appearances for Colorado, and has really made an impression for his new club.

The star has chipped in with eight assists, and also scored one goal.

His move to Colorado surprised a few people, considering he had interest from clubs in the Championship and Scotland.

But it’s working out for him so far, and Ronan is delighted to be settled for the first time in his professional career.

He said: “Funnily enough, it kind of was what I was looking for. Having a home, because I’ve lived all over the place. I was just at the point where I wanted to be somewhere for more than one season. I wanted to have that stability in my life.”

On the possibility of returning to England, Ronan added: “I haven’t really thought about it. We want to get back to England at some point and I’d like to finish my career there definitely. But to be honest I don’t think I’ll go back over and progress.

“I think I’m happy over here doing what I’m doing at the minute, just taking each season as it comes. If that opportunity came up I’d definitely be open to it. But I think just because of how happy we are off the pitch it would take a lot for me to move back now. Just because of that stability. We moved so much in such a short space of time. We kind of got, not frustrated, but bored of it.”

Ronan return to England would be good to see

It sounds like Ronan is really enjoying his time out in the States so far and it’s great to hear that he finally feels settled after a lot of upheaval.

Ronan should undoubtedly have had more chances at Wolves, especially in those months just before he left when the team was in awful form.

He’s happy and that is what matters.

It would be good to see him make a return to England though when he is older, because it kind of feels as though he has finished business on these shores.

It would be really good to see him perhaps get another crack at the Premier League.
