The Wolves players are slowly but surely returning for pre-season – and the club have released a very interesting video starring Mario Lemina.
Julen Lopetegui is now putting his players through their paces, in a bid to get team fitness and sharpness to the best possible level before the start of the new season.
Not everyone is back with the squad yet.
Those that have been involved in internationals have been permitted to return a little later.
But soon Lopetegui will have everyone back.
Mario Lemina jokingly asks ‘Why did I come back?’ as he gets mic’d up in Wolves video
In recent days, Wolves’ £10 million January signing Lemina returned to the squad, which is currently out in Portugal.
And the Wolves media team decided to get him mic’d up, as he and Daniel Podence did some training before they rejoined the rest of the squad.
The high quality video offers brilliant insight into what it’s like for a Premier League football when they first return to pre-season training.
In the video, Lemina does not hide the fact that it is very tough.
He and Podence begin with some stretching with rubber bands and on mats, before moving on to some ball work dribbling in and out of poles and firing passes into small nets.
At one point, Lemina is hands on knees and gasping for breath, admitting ‘That’s why I came back earlier. I knew I’m gonna suffer’.
The pair finish off doing some jogging across a pitch.
Respect to Mario Lemina
Lemina said that he came back early, which suggests that he might have been permitted to have a bit more time off.
So fair play to him for trying to get himself in the best possible shape for the new season.
Lemina is a really important player for Wolves.

He arrived in January and had a fantastic impact, adding steel, mobility and athleticism to the engine room.
Wolves need him in tip-top condition for the start of 2023/24. To see him giving himself the best chance of that is great.
