Wolves vs Bournemouth: Predicted lineup, team news and injury updates as Craig Dawson call made

Wolves host Bournemouth on Saturday looking to make it three Premier League wins on the spin.

It was delight for Gary O’Neil last weekend, as Wolves followed up their 2-0 victory over Southampton with a 4-1 demolition of Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The latest three points moved O’Neil’s men outside of the relegation zone on goal difference, with plenty of work still to do to pull away from danger.

While Wolves were propelled into dreamland in West London, Bournemouth were on the receiving end of a 2-1 defeat against Brighton after Antoine Semenyo was sent off.

Semenyo will now miss the trip to Molineux through suspension. Meanwhile, striker Evanilson – who Wolves tried to sign in 2022 – will want to come back to haunt them this weekend.

With O’Neil aiming for an unprecedented three-game winning streak, he will be pleased to see some of his stars returning to training.

Wolves team news ahead of Bournemouth

Last weekend, Wolves were struck down by absences. Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and defenders Santi Bueno and Craig Dawson were missing through either injury or illness.

Bueno and Dawson being ruled out meant O’Neil trialled captain Mario Lemina at centre-back, and the skipper performed brilliantly in defence.

It remains to be seen whether the 41-year-old persists with that experiment but, he was boosted by youngster Pedro Lima, Dawson and Bueno returning to training.

Johnstone was also pictured at Compton with his Wolves teammates ahead of Saturday’s clash, with the above players handing the manager a selection headache.

Wolves predicted lineup vs Bournemouth

O’Neil praised Jose Sa after his recent displays in a Wolves shirt, and the Portuguese international will start this weekend despite Johnstone returning.

The Wolves boss was almost forced into using a four-man defence at Craven Cottage but with Dawson and Bueno both available, the duo could slot into a back three alongside Toti Gomes.

This means Nelson Semedo can revert to his right-wing-back role with Rayan Ait-Nouri unleashed in his favoured left-wing-back position.

A two-man midfield hands O’Neil a selection headache. Joao Gomes and Andre were brilliant as a partnership against Fulham however, the Wolves boss can’t drop his captain Lemina, especially given his impact last weekend.

Indeed, the ‘quality’ Andre is the one sacrificed so that Gomes can partner Lemina in midfield with a forward trio that could also see a change.

If Pablo Sarabia is fit to play, he should replace Jean-Ricner Bellegarde while partnering the lethal duo of Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Wolves predicted XI vs Bournemouth: Sa; Bueno, Dawson, Toti; Semedo, Gomes, Lemina, Ait-Nouri; Sarabia, Cunha, Strand Larsen.
