Wolves predicted XI v Newcastle: Doherty dropped, £45k-per-week player to return

Wolves welcome Newcastle United to Molineux on Saturday evening, here is our predicted XI for the 5:30 pm Saturday kick-off.

Gary O’Neil will be hugely confident ahead of the game against Newcastle for a host of reasons.

Wolves have been in great form over the last few weeks, while the opposition could be suffering from a European hangover after losing to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

The home side also has a few real in-form players that Eddie Howe will be worried about such as Pedro Neto.

But in order to come out on top against a side like Newcastle, a strong line-up will be required which is exactly how we see O’Neil fielding his team.

Wolves predicted XI v Newcastle

In order for Wolves to continue unbeaten, we expect no chances will be taken in selection.

That means Jose Sa as usual will be the goalkeeper here as he looks to continue a really impressive season to date.

Continuing with a back three, Max Kilman, Craig Dawson and Toti Gomes should all retain their places given how well this setup has worked.

On either side of the back three will be the wing-backs making more a 3-4-3 shape than a 5-2-3.

Nelson Semedo will replace Matt Doherty on the right following his return to availability. On the left, Rayan Ait-Nouri should continue where he has been ever-present this season.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde won’t start after O’Neil expressed doubts over his readiness. While Tommy Doyle probably misses out despite an excellent performance last Saturday.

This means the midfield will likely revert back to the duo who have been so good already in Joao Gomes and £45k-per-week man Mario Lemina who has returned from suspension.

Further forward will be Neto on the right, after he spoke about how O’Neil has improved him earlier today. Over on the left, top scorer Hee-Chan Hwang will look to add to his tally once again.

Up front, Matheus Cunha should get the nod ahead of Sasa Kalajdzic based on his goal last week.
