Wolves predicted XI, team and injury news as Rodrigo Gomes starts v Nottingham Forest

Wolves travel to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon aiming to bounce back from their harrowing 6-2 defeat against Chelsea last weekend.

It was a frantic deadline day at Wolves, who rushed to get some last-minute deals done, with goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, midfielder Andre and winger Carlos Forbs all arriving.

That took the total number of players signed this summer to eight and Gary O’Neil can be generally happy with the business complete.

O’Neil was able to bring in a talented striker in Jorgen Strand Larsen, replace Pedro Neto with Forbs and add the exceptional Andre to their midfield.

The only missing piece to his transfer puzzle was a senior centre-back, as Wolves failed in their attempts to land Trevoh Chalobah and Nayef Aguerd on deadline day.

However, now that the Wanderers squad is assembled, a trip to Nottingham Forest awaits with O’Neil and his players keen to put last weekend’s 6-2 defeat behind them.

Wolves injury news ahead of Nottingham Forest

Wolves progressed into the Carabao Cup third round with a win over Burnley on Wednesday night and there were plenty of positives to take however, the injury to Boubacar Traore was one negative.

The Mali international was forced off the pitch and replaced by Mario Lemina just before half-time, with the 23-year-old now told that his injury is serious and could be out for three months.

This was a blow to the player as his proposed move to Feyenoord on deadline day broke down. Wolves will be hoping Traore makes a speedy recovery.

Traore is the only major injury concern heading into the game while Nelson Semedo is back after serving the third match of his suspension, meaning he could return to the starting eleven today.

Predicted Wolves XI vs Nottingham Forest

Wolves have now added Johnstone to their goalkeeping roster but Jose Sa should keep his place between the sticks against Nottingham Forest.

The Portuguese international will be joined by a back four ahead of him, despite how much they were torn to shreds against Chelsea, with Semedo coming in for Matt Doherty, alongside Toti Gomes, Yerson Mosquera and Ait-Nouri lining up.

The double-pivot in midfield speaks for itself at this stage as Andre won’t be available for selection, with Joao Gomes and Mario Lemina, or course, starting at the base.

Rodrigo Gomes was perhaps harshly dropped against Chelsea but his ‘top class’ pace and trickery should come back into the side for Jean-Ricner Bellegarde on the left.

Hwang Hee-chan should therefore continue on the right with Matheus Cunha deployed just behind Jorgen Strand Larsen. The performance of Cunha and Larsen as a duo was the only positive in the loss to Chelsea.

Wolves (4-2-3-1): Sa; Doherty, Mosquera, Toti, Ait-Nouri; Gomes, Lemina; R. Gomes, Cunha, Hwang; Strand Larsen.
