Wolves predicted lineup vs Aston Villa – Four changes as £27m star unleashed and key star axed

Wolves are looking for some much-needed inspiration as they host Aston Villa on Saturday evening.

It’s four losses in a row for Wolves ahead of their clash against Aston Villa at Molineux, with pressure mounting on the owners to conduct some business.

Vitor Pereira aimed a subtle dig at Fosun in Friday’s press conference, directing his frustrations at the club for not fulfilling his aims this month.

Pereira wanted to sign three more players, prioritising a centre-back and midfielder, but so far his only arrival is Emmanuel Agbadou.

Time is ticking for them to get deals across the line and with Kevin Danso potentially snubbing Wolves for Juventus, it’s been difficult to persuade players to join a sinking ship.

The mood around Molineux couldn’t be much lower at this stage and it could get worse against Villa, especially with two key players absent.

Wolves team news ahead of Aston Villa

Wolves lost 1-0 against Arsenal last time out, largely thanks to Joao Gomes being shown a straight red card.

The Brazilian midfielder will now miss the clash against Villa along with Jorgen Strand Larsen, who suffered a hamstring injury.

Strand Larsen could miss the next two to three weeks and that is a huge blow to Pereira as the Norwegian is their second top scorer this term.

While Boubacar Traore returned to training a few weeks ago, the Wolves manager also confirmed a minor setback for the Malian midfielder after he picked up flu.

Aside from the above, Yerson Mosquera is edging closer to a return and that is great news for everyone associated with the club.

The big talking point heading into this clash is who Pereira decides to replace Strand Larsen and Gomes with in the starting lineup.

Tommy Doyle is the likely candidate to come in for Gomes while £27.5m ace Goncalo Guedes should arguably lead the line in place of Strand Larsen.

They aren’t the only two changes Pereira should make this weekend, as Rodrigo Gomes deserves to start over Rayan Ait-Nouri whose performance levels have dropped.

Andy Thompson criticised Ait-Nouri before the Arsenal clash, with the Algerian needing a break from the starting lineup.

Pereira should also axe Pablo Sarabia after he was anonymous against the Gunners, perhaps replacing him with Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.

Wolves (3-4-3): Sa; Doherty, Bueno, Agbadou; Semedo, Andre, Doyle, R. Gomes; Bellegarde, Cunha, Guedes.
