Wolves have crashed to a dismal 4-0 defeat against West Ham United to all but end the club’s hopes of Premier League survival.
Wolves needed three points this evening, but it was a shocking away performance from Rob Edwards’ men, who seemed to suffer as a result of that 25-day break.
Konstantinos Mavropanos gave West Ham the lead on 42 minutes, with the goal coming against the run of play. There was some frustration for Wolves as the goal came from a West Ham corner, with replays showing it should have been a goal kick.
Thrashed at London Stadium… 😠
What on earth happened? Was that the worst Wolves performance of the season so far?!
In the second-half, Wolves capitulated, conceding two goals in two minutes to Taty Castellanos.
Mavropanos added a fourth with a header from a corner, with Wolves players looking completely shell-shocked.
Going into this game, Wolves fans had allowed themselves to dream that the impossible could be possible. That the great escape was on.
But even the most positive of Old Gold supporters will surely now have to accept that Championship football awaits next season.
Wolves player ratings vs West Ham – Old Gold players struggle on nightmare evening at London Stadium
Jose Sa – 4
Made a few saves but was questionable on Castellanos’ two goals. Seemed slow to get down.
Yerson Mosquera – 3
Too chaotic again at times. Daftly collected a yellow card by asking for a West Ham player to be booked. That meant he then had to tread carefully for a lot of the game. He’ll now be suspended for two games as it was his 10th caution of the season.
Santiago Bueno – 4
A shaky performance from Bueno. Lost his aerial duel which led to West Ham’s fourth goal.

Ladislav Krejci – 4
Might have got closer to Mavropanos after his initial clearance just before the first goal. Then was beaten to the ball by Mavropanos for West Ham’s fourth. A poor night for the Czech.
Jackson Tchatchoua – 3
Should have done more to stop the cross from Jarrod Bowen that led to West Ham’s first goal. Almost allowed Summerville to score from range after he failed to deal with a bouncing ball. Again lacked end product. He’s had far too many poor performances in a Wolves shirt.
Hugo Bueno – 6
Quite lively on the left as he looked to get forward and put the ball into the box. He at times looked like one of only a few who really cared. Potentially Wolves’ best player alongside Bellegarde.
Andre – 5
Praised ahead of the game by Rob Edwards, but didn’t dominate the game like we know he can.
Joao Gomes – 4
Busy in midfield as usual but was at fault for the third goal by Taty Castellanos. Went down under a ‘challenge’ and the Hammers then went and scored. VAR deemed no foul, and they were right to. Not his night at all. Replaced by Tom Edozie.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 6
Maybe the pick of the Wolves players. As usual he was the player to try and make things happen in and around the box and linked up well with Armstrong. A tad fortunate his first-half challenge on Tomas Soucek didn’t receive more than a booking. Replaced on the hour by Mateus Mane, which felt a strange decision.
Angel Gomes – 4
Preferred to Mateus Mane, he didn’t have much influence as the other number 10. Came into it more in the second-half. Unlucky when he struck the post with a free-kick, and had another that went close. Hooked on the hour. Replaced by Rodrigo Gomes.
Adam Armstrong – 4
Lots of endeavour when he was on, had a few efforts that didn’t really trouble Mads Hermansen. Replaced by Tolu Arokodare.

Substitutes
Mateus Mane – 3
Far too casual on the ball, which he lost in the build-up to West Ham’s second goal. Should then have snuffed out the attack but was too feeble.
Rodrigo Gomes – 4
Did nothing of note.
Hwang Hee-chan – 4
Some urgency but there was no threat.
Tolu Arokodare – 4
Thrown on to try and cause problems but barely did anything.
Tom Edozie – N/A
