Wolves player ratings vs Nottingham Forest, Strand Larsen one of three 4/10s on a dismal night

Wolves have lost yet again in the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest running out 1-0 winners at Molineux.

While there were positives against Aston Villa, there was very little to like about this display from the Old Gold.

It was a tepid display at home, with Wolves lacking quality and also, at times, intent.

Igor Jesus got the game’s only goal, headed in past a flailing Johnstone. This, after he’d seen a goal ruled out in the first-half for an offside against Dan Ndoye.

This was really a must-win game for Wolves, and the result and performance will do little convince anyone that anything other than relegation awaits.

Sam Johnstone – 4

Would have been relieved that VAR ruled out Igor Jesus’ goal in the first-half, perhaps his instant protest help them eventually reach the decision. Made a couple of good saves in the second-half to deny Forest, but was then caught in no man’s land for Jesus’ header in the second-half

Yerson Mosquera – 5

A decent defensive display overall from Mosquera. His enthusiasm is admirable, but he needs to stop getting involved in needless skirmishes. Booked, and replaced by Mateus Mane.

Emmanuel Agbadou – 6

Another fairly good outing from Agbadou, who seems to be over his early season slump.

Toti Gomes – 6

Toti backed up his performance against Aston Villa, and like Agbadou, appears to have rediscovered his mojo.

Jackson Tchatchoua – 4

Tchatchoua is so frustrating. He could be so dangerous, but is often far too conservative. Was so wasteful in possession tonight. Should have had an assist though with his cross to Jhon Arias early in the second-half. Replaced by Ki-Jana Hoever.

David Moller Wolfe – 5

There wasn’t much about Moller Wolfe tonight. Improved slightly in the second-half.

Joao Gomes – 6

Gomes was his usual busy self and worked hard to win the ball back for Wolves. Booked.

Joao Gomes’ yellow card vs Nottingham Forest means he is suspended for Wolves’ next game vs Man United 😔

Do Wolves stand any chance at all against United without Gomes?

Andre – 6

A tidy performance from Andre in midfield, and regained possession for Wolves several times.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 6

Bellegarde will probably have some critics tonight but again he was the only player in and around the final third trying to be positive. Replaced by Hwang Hee-chan.

Jhon Arias – 5

Arias cut a frustrated figure at times tonight. Worked his socks off, but there was very little threat again from the Colombian. Had one glorious headed opportunity early in the second-half, but fluffed his lines. Replaced by Tolu Arokodare.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 4

He was largely anonymous, and when the ball did reach him it was as though he was cold and couldn’t link up with those around him. The service to him was poor again, but Wolves’ number nine was so disappointing once again.

After yet another defeat, who was the most disappointing Wolves performer vs Nottingham Forest?

Substitutes

Hwang Hee-chan – 5

Didn’t bring the attacking threat Edwards hoped he would, and he might have done better stopping the cross which led to Jesus’ goal. Did play one through ball to Marshall Munetsi right at the death to create a good chance.

Matheus Mane – 6

More minutes for the youngster with Edwards clearly a fan. Put in one teasing cross at the end which just evaded Strand Larsen. A lively cameo.

Ki-Jana Hoever – 5

Did nothing of note.

Tolu Arokodare – 6

Was a handful when he came on. Should have entered the action sooner.

Marshall Munetsi – N/A

Came on few minutes at the end before going off injured.
