Wolves player ratings vs Nottingham Forest, Pedro Lima impresses and one 8/10 despite Pereira’s first defeat

Wolves have crashed to a 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest in their latest Premier League match.

Morgan Gibbs-White gave the visitors the lead early on, but Wolves then responded well and created several good chances.

But Forest delivered a sucker punch just before half-time, with that man Chris Wood once again scoring against Wolves.

Wolves genuinely played some good football in the first-half, but weren’t clinical enough with their chances and did not threaten often enough overall, with Forest clinical when they needed to be.

Right at the death, Taiwo Awoniyi made it 3-0, hitting Wolves on the counter.

They rather played into Forest’s hands on the night, with their ability on the counter-attack clear for all to see at Molineux.

Here are Molineux News’ player ratings for tonight’s game.

Wolves player ratings vs Nottingham Forest – Rodrigo Gomes the standout

Jose Sa – 5/10

Has gone from back-to-back clean sheets to back-to-back games conceding. Didn’t actually have much to do, and had no real chance for any of the Forest goals.

Pedro Lima – 7/10

Came in for his Premier League debut with Nelson Semedo injured, and can hold his head high. Was a great outlet and put in several good crosses. Looks to be a top long-term replacement for the captain. Made way for the more experienced Jean-Ricner Bellegarde just before the hour mark.

Matt Doherty – 4/10

Captain on the night, in the absence of Semedo, Doherty’s good form of late didn’t continue against Forest at Molineux. Picked up an early booking, and got burned for pace by Callum Hudson-Odoi on the second goal. Messed up a header back to Sa late in the second-half, nearly leading to a Forest third.

Santiago Bueno – 5/10

You get the feeling he needs an authoritative figure next to him. Didn’t look comfortable at times, and might have done more to block Morgan Gibbs-White’s shot for the first goal. Improved in the second-half.

Rayan Ait-Nouri – 5/10

Couldn’t be his usual adventurous self having to operate in the Toti Gomes role. Perhaps Pereira missed a trick by not pushing him higher up into Matheus Cunha’s position.

Rodrigo Gomes – 8/10

Back in the starting XI, and a really lively display from the Portuguese youngster in all thirds of the pitch. Was energetic and put several good crosses into the box. Almost scored a great volley in the first-half. This kid needs more game time.

Joao Gomes – 6/10

Won the ball back many times, as he does, but he and Doyle got caught too high up for Forest’s opening goal, with Gibbs-White having so much space to run into.

Tommy Doyle – 5/10

Doyle didn’t really control the game as Pereira would have liked. Didn’t cover himself in glory on the first goal by Forest, getting caught high up and leaving Gibbs-White free to burst forward. Replaced by Mario Lemina just before the hour mark. Booked.

Goncalo Guedes – 5/10

Some good ball carries in Cunha’s absence and also got the ball into the box when he could from the right side. Not enough threat from him on the night. Replaced by Carlos Forbs with 20 to go.

Hwang Hee-chan – 5/10

Hwang was lively early on, causing problems with his pace. Frustrated at times with sloppy passes and failed take-on attempts. Replaced by Pablo Sarabia with 20 to go.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 5/10

Pressure on him to deliver in the absence of Cunha. Spurned three good chances in the first-half, and saw another effort saved by Matz Sels in the second-half. A disappointing showing from the big man.
