Wolves player ratings vs Man United as Bellegarde gets a 7/10, Strand Larsen one of three 3/10s

A tough evening for Wolves at Molineux against Manchester United ended in a 4-1 defeat.

As expected, Wolves were under the cosh right from minute one. The Old Gold could not get out of their own half, and it was just inevitable that Manchester United would open the scoring.

However, the way they scored the first was completely avoidable. Andre remained undecided on the ball for far too long, and Casemiro was able to take it off him to play in Matheus Cunha, who laid it off to Bruno Fernandes.

Despite Emmanuel Agbadou’s best efforts, the Man United captain put it past Sam Johnstone.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde would then give the Old Gold hope as he equalised on the stroke of half-time.

However, not much would come from it, as Mbeumo, Mount, and Fernandes all scored in the second half to make it 4-1.

Wolves player ratings vs Man United

Sam Johnstone – 5

Conceded four but also prevented quite a few as well. Busy afternoon for Johnstone, who also had to try to stop a penalty. Faced ten shots on target.

Ki-Jana Hoever – 4

Out of position for Mbeumo’s goal, nowhere near Mount for when he scored. In general he was defensively solid and won his battles, but those crucial moments have docked him points.

Needs to remain switched on at all times.

Yerson Mosquera – 3

It was way too easy for Diogo Dalot to get in behind for Man United’s second, and Mosquera failed to track the run. Then he gave away a penalty as well. Rough evening.

Emmanuel Agbadou – 5

The best of the central defenders, but it did not take much to win that accolade.

Toti Gomes – 4

Far from his best, especially after a couple of promising performances from the captain over the last few weeks.

David Moller Wolfe – 5

Excellent ball across to set up the equaliser. However, he leisurely jogged back when United scored their second.

Ladislav Krejci – 5

Krejci was OK, but it was nothing special from the Czech international either. Won the ball back more than his midfield partner.

Andre – 3

No idea what he was thinking by holding onto the ball for that long for Bruno Fernandes’ goal. Also could not get a hold of the game at all in possession and was lacklustre off of it as well. Not a vintage Andre display by any means.

Jhon Arias – 4

Absolutely nothing is going right for Arias, but it is clear he is trying, even if that is not at the level Wolves need.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 7

Was one of the bright sparks before scoring. Every action he takes on the ball seems to be towards progressing it up the pitch, and that is exactly what Wolves need. Terrific finish for his goal.

His injury is a major worry, and with him needing help to hobble off the pitch, it was not a good sign.

The wait for a goal is over! After five consecutive games and 9 hours of football, Wolves have finally scored.

How would you rate Bellegarde’s finish out of 10?

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 3

Completely anonymous up top again. Zero shots, and no threat for the Man United defenders. A bystander all game.

Substitutes

Fer Lopez – 5

Tough game for any player to come into. Did not put much wrong, but also had little impact either.

Mateus Mane – 5

Looked to make things happen after coming on. With Bellegarde out injured, he could end up being given a chance to start soon.

Tolu Arokodare – 5

Faced the same problems as Larsen with little service but won the few battles in the air he had.

Hugo Bueno – 5

Similarly, he did not put much wrong after coming on either, but there was no coming back for Wolves.

Jackson Tchatchoua – N/A

Given minutes towards the end with the game far out of sight.
