Wolves were denied their second point of the season after conceding late against Manchester City.
It was a performance that many Wolves fans would have hoped to see at Molineux, as Gary O’Neil’s side showed promise against the champions.
Jorgen Strand Larsen opened the scoring after some fine build-up play involving Nelson Semedo and Santi Bueno, giving the Old Gold the lead early on.
Josko Gvardiol equalised in style with a long-range effort before John Stones netted the winner at the death to deny Wolves three points.

Wolves player ratings vs Manchester City
Jose Sa – 9
Sa had a point to prove when he replaced Sam Johnstone in the starting XI and he did just that.
The 31-year-old made great save after great save, notable stops being to deny Bernardo Silva and Savinho in the first half.
Nelson Semedo – 8
It was a game to remember for Semedo too, as the fullback provided a superb assist for Strand Larsen’s opener and could have scored himself too.
Santi Bueno – 8
After the international break, there was hope that Bueno could kick on at Wolves. The defender showed his class against City with a solid display.
Craig Dawson – 7.5
Absolute rock at the back, Dawson is essential to this Wolves side, led by example and kept Erling Haaland quiet again.
Toti Gomes – 7
Toti is clearly more comfortable playing in a back three. The defender was booked early for a silly mistake, however he grew into the game, was key to keeping City at arm’s length.
Rayan Ait-Nouri – 6
As always, Ait-Nouri was everywhere. The Algerian was silky on the ball but sometimes failed to commit defensively, as well as holding onto the ball for too long.
Joao Gomes – 6.5
A strong game for Gomes, who was tested in midfield against City. The aggressive Brazilian was direct and determined in his approach and was cruelly booked in the second half.
Andre – 6
It was another 100% outing for Andre, who completed all of his passes at Molineux. The midfielder was as tidy as ever while he was on the pitch before being subbed at half time.
Mario Lemina – 6.5
After a slow start to the season, Lemina looked far more at home as a result of the formation change. The captain’s distribution was strong and he led well on the pitch.
Matheus Cunha – 6
A quiet afternoon by Cunha’s standards however, the forward was key with his running power. So aware and always lively, made things happen when he could for Wolves.
Jorgen Strand Larsen – 7
Strand Larsen netted his third of the season to open the scoring for the Old Gold. The striker’s positioning for the goal was perfect, finishing with great composure.
Substitues
Tommy Doyle – 6
Came on at half time to replace Andre, showed strong passing and created a chance for Forbs to score.
Carlos Forbs – 6
Brought danger onto the pitch after he arrived on the scene, almost scored shortly after being introduced.
Goncalo Guedes – N/A
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – N/A
