Wolves player ratings vs Leeds United as Fer Lopez shines, but 3/10 player makes another error

Wolves were unable to secure their first points of the season, falling to a 3-1 defeat against Leeds United at Molineux.

The hosts began brightly and took the lead through Ladislav Krejci, who fired home from close range.

Wolves supporters were impressed by Fer Lopez’s first-half display, with the midfielder grabbing an assist on his first Premier League start.

Despite three half-time changes, the Old Gold were unable to get themselves back into the game.

However, there was some positive news with striker Jorgen Strand Larsen making his return from injury.

Wolves player ratings vs Leeds United

Jose Sa – 6

Beaten by Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s looping effort and could do nothing to prevent Anton Stach’s wonderful free-kick from finding the back of the net.

Noah Okafor’s effort found the bottom corner, making it impossible for the Wolves’ number one to get anything on it. Let down massively by his defence.

Jackson Tchatchoua – 5

Tchatchoua provided an outlet on the right flank with his exceptional pace. However, he was part of a backline that conceded three goals.

In the second period, he produced some inviting crosses, but also left space for Leeds to exploit in transitions.

Yerson Mosquera – 4

Mosquera followed up his promising display against Newcastle with a poor performance against Leeds. The defender couldn’t cope with Calvert-Lewin all afternoon and was at fault for the first goal.

Emmanuel Agbadou – 3

Agbadou’s poor form continues with yet another mistake. The defender made a mess of it at the back and allowed the visitors to score a third before the break.

The Ivorian international needs to be taken out of the team.

Toti Gomes – 5

The best of a poor back three. Toti won many of his duels, but was taken off in the late stages of the game, with the hosts trying to find a way back into the contest.

Rodrigo Gomes- 5

Supporters expected Pereira to persist with inverted wing-backs; however Gomes found himself at left-wing-back. The 22-year-old was unable to make an impact in the final third and was one of the three players to be taken off at half-time.

Joao Gomes – 5

Gomes is yet to return to his standards from last season. With his fellow countryman dropped, the midfielder couldn’t gain control of the midfield.

He worked tirelessly in the second half, but was unable to reduce the deficit.

Ladislav Krejci – 6

Krejci was one of Wolves’ best performers in the home defeat. He welcomed himself to the Molineux faithful with a well-taken goal.

However, he committed a needless foul and Leeds scored from the resulting free-kick.

Jean Ricner-Bellegarde – 4

Bellegarde was disappointing on his return to the starting lineup. The versatile midfielder had no impact on proceedings and was taken off at half-time.

Fer Lopez – 7

Lopez showed Vitor Pereira why he should be starting with a promising 45-minute display. The Spaniard created Krejci’s goal with a delightful through ball.

However, as he was on a yellow card, he was one of the players who was withdrawn at half-time.

Tolu Arokodare – 6

Just like the match against Newcastle, Arokodare provided a focal point. The striker linked up well, but was starved of any service.

Substitutes

Marshall Munetsi – 6

Munetsi came on at half-time and looked like the most likely scorer in the second period. The attacking midfielder had a few efforts on goal, but didn’t produce anything too difficult for Karl Darlow.

Hugo Bueno – 6

Bueno injected some much-needed energy into proceedings, but his end product was lacking.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 5

Larsen made his return from injury, but didn’t look fully fit. Like Arokodare, he wasn’t given any proper service.

Jhon Arias – 5

Arias came on in the late stages and failed to impress during this time.

Andre – 5

Andre saw plenty of the ball as the hosts searched for a way back into the game.
