Wolves player ratings vs Crystal Palace, Andre gets 7/10 and plenty of 5/10s in Rob Edwards’ opener

It was not the start that Rob Edwards would have wanted at Wolves, as Crystal Palace emerged as 2-0 winners.

Early proceedings saw a big VAR decision having to be made, and Martin Keown claimed the outcome of that check was ‘controversial’.

The Wanderers would go into halftime at 0-0, and the game was still there to be won, and they did start the second 45 strong.

Daniel Munoz would then score the opener for Crystal Palace with 63 minutes played against the run of play, with the Old Gold looking the better side in the second half until then.

The gates were then opened, and Yeremy Pino added a second goal for the Eagles not long after.

Wolves’ best performer in the disappointing Crystal Palace loss?

Wolves player ratings vs Crystal Palace

Sam Johnstone – 6

There was really not much for Sam Johnstone to do about Crystal Palace’s two goals. For the first he was left stranded due to a deflection, and the second was simply a worldie.

David Moller Wolfe – 6

Got into some really promising crossing positions and could have come out of the game with an assist had Jhon Arias scored.

Emmanuel Agbadou – 7

Agbadou looked back to his best today, and he was really dominant when battling for the ball. There was not much he could have done for the two goals.

Toti Gomes – 6

It felt like Toti Gomes was also second best when challenging for the ball today, and that was evident in the numbers. He only won a fifth of his ground duels, and you would expect better from your captain. However, the rest of his defending was OK.

Ladislav Krejci – 6

It was quite strange to see Ladislav Krejci be subbed off with Wolves chasing the game, as he had not done much wrong. But he was the subject of Edwards wanting to bring on another attacker, and the Czech was deemed the man to make way.

Jackson Tchatchoua – 5

The pace of Cameroonian was not utilised as much as you would have wanted, with the wing-back unable to frequently get himself into good crossing positions.

Andre – 7

Whenever he had the ball, he did well to keep play ticking and was a hard worker across his duels. It was a professional performance from him.

Joao Gomes – 6

You cannot fault Joao Gomes for the effort he always puts in, and this performance was filled with it. It was a decent showing from the Brazilian.

Marshall Munetsi – 5

Much more active on the ball than he was under Vitor Pereira, but the Zimbabwean was unable to create anything of note going forward.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 5

There was a real lack of service for Wolves, and while Strand Larsen did look sharp at times, he was unable to get himself into the game.

Tolu Arokodare – 6

Seemed to link up quite well with Jorgen Strand Larsen and was a big influence defensively, especially against those Crystal Palace long throws. He was a victim of Wolves’ lack of service for their forwards.

Substitutions

Hwang Hee-chan – 5

Cheaply gave the ball away not long after coming on, and that resulted in Yeremy Pino adding a second for Crystal Palace. Would later play Moller Wolfe into space, and Jhon Arias should have done better to convert from the resulting cross.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 6

Bellegarde did look more lively than the rest of the substitutes that Rob Edwards made and perhaps is pushing to be a regular down the line.

Jhon Arias – 5

Should have scored when Moller Wolfe supplied him a cross directly in front of goal, but he fluffed his lines at a crucial point in the match.

Hugo Bueno – N/A

Replaced David Moller Wolfe for the final two minutes and five in added time.
