Match

Wolves player ratings vs Brighton as one star underperforms with a 3/10 again and another gets 8/10

It was more late heartbreak for Wolves, as they failed to hold onto a 1-0 lead with just five minutes to go.

Vitor Pereira was sent off in the first half, Wolves scored moments after, and the Molineux crowd started chanting for one particular man.

Marshall Munetsi’s strike was hit well, and Verbruggen was forced to try to save it. However, the shot was too powerful and it ultimately resulted in an own goal for the Brighton shot-stopper.

Jan Paul van Hecke would equalise in the 86th minute from a set piece, handing Wolves a disappointing result once more.

Wolves player ratings vs Brighton

Sam Johnstone – 7

Made some good stops throughout the match but also was lucky nobody capitalised on his multiple spills during the game.

Jackson Tchatchoua – 6

The Cameroonian was defensively sound during the match, but perhaps his talents were left underutilised as Wolves sat deep in the second half.

Santiago Bueno – 6

Not as good as previous weeks, but he was still OK at the back. Lost quite a few duels.

Ladislav Krejci – 8

Krejci has been a revelation, and he is looking like a Rolls-Royce defender. What a signing he has been. His defensive work was impressive.

Hugo Bueno – 6

Not his best game after recent top performances, but the Spaniard did not do much wrong against Brighton. Solid from the fullback.

Andre – 6

Would have liked more from the Brazilian in build-up, and was often second-best in his midfield battles.

Marshall Munetsi – 6

His volley was well struck, and the power meant Verbruggen could not get a strong hand to it, and the Dutchman ended up scoring an own goal. His work on the ball left a lot to be desired, but his work rate is undeniable.

Joao Gomes – 7

Solid showing from Joao Gomes, who perhaps had to do more defending than he would have hoped in the second half.

Hwang Hee-Chan – 3

Once again the Korean looked like a passenger. He might be Wolves’ only natural left winger, but surely Vitor Pereira can find another solution. He was very poor against Brighton.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 5

Held the ball up well, but once more the service was lacking. Often had to wait for a long time for other players to help up top.

Jhon Arias – 5

Should have scored his first competitive goal for Wolves, but his point-blank shot sailed over the bar. Arias’s work rate cannot be faulted one bit, as he worked tremendously hard, but he needed to do a whole lot more.

Substitutes

Emmanuel Agbadou – 6

Came on to create a five-man defence to try to hold onto the lead. Not really his fault that the tactics backfired, but he also did not overly impress after coming on.

David Moller Wolfe – 6

The Norwegian did not impact proceedings after coming on and has not done much for his future minutes.

Jean Ricner-Bellegarde – 5

Should have done much better for Brighton’s equaliser. Gave van Hecke a free run at the ball from the set piece.

Tolu Arokodare – N/A

Played the final five minutes of added time.

Yerson Mosquera – N/A

Played the final five minutes of added time.
