Wolves player ratings vs Brentford as Jorgen Strand Larsen awful but 6/10 star should be proud

Wolves put on an awful display against Brentford which lacked any kind of quality in the final third as they lost 2-0.

The Old Gold struggled for quality in the final third in the first-half, but weren’t troubled too much by Brentford in what was a rather dull start to the game.

The selection of Jose Sa caught a few people by surprise but he pulled off a number of good saves to keep Wolves in the game.

However, as has been typical of Wolves’ season, a mistake from Ladislav Krejci allowed Lewis Keane-Potter to score the opening goal of the game for Brentford.

After the goal, Brentford doubled their lead with ease through Keane-Potter once again, before Jorgen Strand Larsen missed from the penalty spot.

The search for a first win goes on…🫤

Here are the ratings.

Wolves player ratings vs Brentford

Jose Sa – 6

Made a number of quality saves to keep Wolves in the game. One of his better games considering his history of mistakes.

Ki-Jana Hoever – 5

Looked bright in patches down the right-hand side but lacked any real quality with the ball.

Matt Doherty – 5

Didn’t do an awful lot wrong. Won a number of duels and recoveries, but relatively quiet.

Santiago Bueno – 5

Similar to Doherty, looked quite assured in possession and was probably the pick of the bunch in terms of the centre-backs.

Ladislav Krejci – 4

Made an error of judgement to let the ball bounce for Brentford’s first goal and didn’t look quite as comfortable in defence compared to midfield.

David Moller Wolfe – 6

Perhaps the best player on the field for Wolves. Showed quality in the final third to fashion some chances and worked tirelessly to try and make things happen.

Joao Gomes – 6

Joao Gomes displayed his skill at times with some neat interplay and a few smart passes.

Andre – 5

Nothing overly special from Andre against Brentford. He battled hard and linked play, but just couldn’t influence much in the final third.

Fer Lopez – 5

Showed glimpes of potential on the ball. But often looked lightweight and was dispossessed on numerous occasions.

Hwang Hee-chan – 4

Lacked quality on the ball and gave it away a few times. Just looks devoid of confidence in the final third and offers very little attacking threat.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 3

Isolated up top again at times but also struggled to hold up the ball when he did get the chances. Missed a penalty with an awful attempt that epitomises his season.
