Wolves were defeated by Brentford on Saturday afternoon as they failed to do something for the first time in 18 games.
In the return fixture of Wolves‘ thumping 4-1 win back in December, the result was vastly different. Gary O’Neil‘s side struggled to cope with the injury to Matheus Cunha in the 20th minute.
After this, Brentford scored their opener in the 35th minute through Christian Norgaard. The scoring was completed in the 77th as Ivan Toney scored once more.
Wolves looked a shell of themselves in an attacking sense with the failure to sign a number nine being evidently a bad decision.
The struggles in front of goal on Saturday were clear to see and now with the 2-0 defeat, Wolves have broken an 18-game streak they were on.

Wolves fail to score at Molineux, breaking 18-game streak
With the absence of a true number nine, Wolves’ goalscoring streak at Molineux came to an abrupt end. This meant the club’s streak of scoring in every match at Molineux is over.
This run lasted 18 games and was a huge credit mainly to O’Neil and a lesser extent Julen Lopetegui.
Both Hwang and Cunha have been ridiculously impressive in front of goal this season for Wolves and it’s little shock that the goalless game came as neither of them featured.
if anything, this hammers home the need for Wolves to have signed a number nine during the winter transfer window.
Wolves were bad against Brentford but no need to worry
At times Wolves look so very close to being capable of pushing for a European spot, and at others, they are worryingly poor.
Today was the latter, with little to really shout about from the game while Craig Dawson was particularly bad at the back.
The result and performance weren’t what Wolves supporters have become accustomed to recently, but there isn’t any cause for concern – as it’s still impressive to have just two losses in 10 games.
It’s a game which could happen even to the best sides and the most important thing is that O’Neil bounces back next weekend.
