Wolves fans slam star who had ‘no confidence’ in Carabao Cup defeat to Brighton

Wolves’ poor start to the new campaign continued on Wednesday night as they crashed out of the Carabao Cup in a 3-2 defeat to Brighton.

While many of the Molineux faithful had little hope going into the game, the first-half performance from the visitors was poor.

The club quickly found themselves 2-0 down and the Seagulls could have been further ahead.

Thankfully, Goncalo Guedes pulled a goal back just before half-time to get the Old Gold back into the game.

However, despite arguably being the better team in the second period, Wolves scuffed multiple chances before Brighton got their third.

Tommy Doyle was able to get the Old Gold’s second in the dying minutes, but it was too little too late.

While some players did impress in the fixture, most notably Guedes, others fell short of expectations, with some fans believing that one star had zero confidence.

Jose Sa returned to the net in the cup for the first time since Sam Johnstone signed for Wolves.

The Portuguese international had a poor start to the Premier League season and came under plenty of criticism for the 6-2 defeat to Chelsea.

As a result, Johnstone had started the last two games for Wolves until Sa returned on Wednesday night.

However, the goalkeeper did not cover himself glory and made multiple mistakes throughout the game.

Fans across social media made their feelings known about his performance, with many believing that his confidence is now ‘gone’.

Many now believe that Sa’s time at Wolves could soon be coming to an end and a transfer away from Molineux seems inevitable.

Wolves need Jose Sa back to his best

Sa is clearly in his worst form since his move to Molineux and the signing of Johnstone has not done him any good.

The goalkeeper has bailed Wolves out multiple times in his Old Gold career, and if Gary O’Neil’s team are going to return to form, they need him back to his best.

Wolves could have had multiple points by now and would have been into the fourth round of the cup if Sa had been in form.

Hopefully, over the coming weeks, the Portuguese international can regain his confidence and return to his best.
