Some Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have hailed the performance of Willy Boly in last night’s defeat to Liverpool.

The 30-year-old was back in the starting XI after missing a handful of games with a hamstring injury.

He was on the bench for the previous two games against Manchester City and Aston Villa but saw no action.

The Reds were far from their best, and had ex-Wolves star Diogo Jota, of course, to thank for the three points.

The 24-year-old scored just before half-time on his first appearance back at Molineux since his big-money move last year.

The game was unfortunately overshadowed when Rui Patricio had to be stretchered off the pitch after an accidental collision with teammate Conor Coady.

The well wishes of all football fans are with the 33-year-old Portugal number one, as they were with Raul Jimenez back in November.

Thankfully, Nuno Espirito Santo said after the game that he was conscious and talking.

Boly’s return to action was filled with headed clearances and general solidity, and was perhaps the biggest positive for Wolves on the night.

Some fans paid tribute to him after his performance on social media:
