Wolverhampton Wanderers have lost their third pre-season game of the summer to Las Palmas.

There was to be no follow-up to the victory over Real Betis on Saturday, with Bruno Lage’s side losing 3-2 at the Marbella Football Center.

There were some good signs about Wolves, but it is clear the players are very much still adapting to the new manager’s methods.

It was a hot evening, but Wolves were impressive in their press – something that definitely appears to be a staple of the Lage way of playing.

Wolves looked lively in the first-half and had the lion’s share of possession but in truth, did not really threaten the Las Palmas goal.

The Spanish second division side would open the scoring through Luis Garcia on 39 minutes after Adalberto Penaranda had sprung the offside trap.

Jose Sa saved the initial effort but couldn’t do anything to prevent the opener.

Penaranda then scored a second just before half-time.

Ki-Jana Hoever pulled one back with a stunning volley inside the penalty area.

Full-back Hugo Bueno then gifted Las Palmas their third with an overhit pass, before Morgan Gibbs-White scored what turned out to be a consolation.

Gibbs-White entered the action at half-time, and gave a very good account of himself.

The 21-year-old has been looking sharp in training, and here he was busy and always trying to make things happen.

He took his goal really well, latching onto a fine long ball from new signing Yerson Mosquera, who was outstanding in the game.

On social media, fans have been praising Gibbs-White’s cameo:
