Raul Jimenez was suspended for Wolves’ trip to Brighton and that could have provided an opportunity for Fabio Silva.
The club record signing is the only recognised out-and-out striker at the club but he still did not start last night’s game with Brighton.
Bruno Lage opted to go for a fluid front three of Francisco Trincao, Hwang Hee-Chan and Daniel Podence.
When Hwang got injured in the first half, Lage brought on Adama Traore, who started in attack in Wolves’ last game against Manchester City.
Explaining his decision to club media after the game, Lage said: “Daniel, he didn’t play too much, but today he played, he did everything I asked and I’m also very happy with him because it was a hard game to play, between the lines against two centre backs.
“It was hard to choose between Daniel and Fabio, Fabio also deserved minutes in the game, but my decision was Daniel and I think I took the best decision.”
Lage only brought Silva on with one minute remaining and he only got a solitary touch of the ball.
Some Wolves fans on Twitter have reacted to the decisions to not start Silva and then only bring him off the bench so late.
Lage’s team selection got a much-needed win so it is hard to be too critical but it is clear some fans thought Silva should have got more of a chance last night.
