Wolverhampton Wanderers recorded their first victory of the Bruno Lage era last night.

The team ran out 4-0 winners in the EFL Cup clash against Championship side Nottingham Forest.

It was a fantastic display from Wolves, who put their opponents to the sword in the second-half.

It was Romain Saiss who got the opener, turning in a Ki-Jana Hoever cross.

That was quickly followed by Daniel Podence scoring on his first appearance in Old Gold since early May.

Wolves continued to dominate, and in the final five minutes they found another gear.

The excellent Fabio Silva slipped in Francisco Trincao who scored his first goal for the club, before Morgan Gibbs-White fired in from the edge of the penalty area.

It was a wonderful performance, with the result to match this time.

There was a huge love-in after the game on social media for Lage, with all the players putting in fantastic displays.

There was a lot of praise especially for Podence, who has certainly been questioned during his time at the club.

Some feel as though this is a make-or-break kind of season for him.

But he showed his quality at the City Ground, and may well have a very important role to play.

Considering it was his first game in a good while, Podence looked really sharp last night. And he took his goal really nicely and showed good composure in the box.
