Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been on social media questioning why Nuno Espirito Santo decided to substitute Morgan Gibbs-White against Tottenham Hotspur.

The midfielder was handed a second successive start earlier today, lining up on the left-hand side.

That was perhaps due to Daniel Podence sustaining an injury and also as a reward for his winning goal against Brighton.

Gibbs-White had a decent game and tried to be positive.

He looked a lot better when he was moved into the middle, but the youngster only featured there for around 10 minutes before Nuno hooked him for Ruben Neves.

Wolves probably had their best spell with Gibbs-White central, but the threat and momentum went away once he left the action.

His performance really shouldn’t have done his chances of starting the next game any harm.

But it remains to be seen what Nuno decides to do against Everton.

On social media, plenty of Wolves fans were left bemused by Nuno’s decision to take off one of the team’s brightest sparks for a more conservative midfielder when chasing the game:
