Wolves fans insist star player must be dropped after a ‘0/10’ performance in Brentford defeat

Wolves put in another disastrous performance in the Premier League as Brentford beat Gary O’Neil’s side 5-3.

In a high-scoring match, Wolves were unable to take advantage of the early chaos, with more shambolic defending on display

After another early goal from the Bees, Matheus Cunha picked up an equaliser just four minutes in. Brentford then re-took the lead from the penalty spot before Jorgen Strand Larsen made it 2-2.

However, from here it was downhill from O’Neil’s side. Brentford would net another two goals before half-time to give themselves a comfortable lead.

In the second half, things didn’t improve, with the hosts going close to a fifth multiple times before Fabio Carvalho found the net in the 90th minute.

Rayan Ait-Nouri did claw another goal back in added time but it was too little too late as the club remained bottom of the Premier League.

While many players underperformed, Mario Lemina in particular had a poor game, prompting a strong reaction from the Old Gold fanbase.

Lemina arguably had his worst performance in an Old Gold shirt since signing for the club back in January 2023.

With the scoreline locked at 1-1, the captain gave away a clumsy penalty to allow the hosts to retake the lead.

Then, after Larsen found a second equaliser, Lemina gave the ball away seconds later which ultimately led to Brentford’s third.

His performance led many Wolves fans to take to social media, lambasting the midfielder for his display.

After the display, many are now calling for the captain to be left out of their line-up for their upcoming match against Man City.

Wolves fans were not wrong about Lemina having a dreadful game. The captain made two awful mistakes while the game hanged in balance.

As the leader on the pitch, many of the younger players will be looking up to Lemina for guidance. To see him making such poor decisions is harmful not only to the result but to the team as a whole.

On his day, Lemina is arguably Wolves’ best player, as he can control the middle of the pitch with ease.

This is the player the Molineux faithful needs to see over the coming weeks or the club may find themselves cut adrift.
