Wolves fans in no doubt about Mateus Mane now after assist vs Arsenal

Mateus Mane’s cameo appearance was one of the biggest positives against Arsenal for Wolves.

Ever since Rob Edwards’ arrival, the young attacker has seen his minutes increase, after previously having zero under Vitor Pereira this season.

Amid Wolves’ poor form, fans clamoured for Mane to start, and now that he has been making appearances off the bench, it looks as if those calls have merit.

While the late winner by Arsenal dampened the mood on Saturday night, it did not prevent fans from raving about Mateus Mane.

Despite defeat, there were plenty of positives to take away from that Wolves performance.

Despite coming on in the 86th minute, the overall feeling is Mateus Mané has done enough to warrant a start against Brentford.

His introduction gave the Old Gold much-needed freshness and energy in the final third, and that has not gone unnoticed.

Wolves fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to rave about the substitute appearance by Mateus Mane.

One fan said, “First PL assist for Mateus Mane has to be the biggest positive take from last night. Always been lots to like about the lad; he’s got some quality about him, eh? If, and it’s still a big if, he continues to progress, we may have at least one thing to treasure from this season.”

Another supporter said, “Mateus Mane has to be getting more minutes; unreal assist today.”

Meanwhile, a separate fan stated, “Just let my boy cook. Forget the season; just let us have a bit of joy. Not had that much joy watching this team in a very long time.”

A different Old Gold faithful said, “This kid is 18 years old; he came off the bench at Arsenal, and the first thing he did was pick up the ball and RUN at their defence! No fear! He needs to start going forward this season! Buzzing, he got the assist! Cruel ending, but proud of him!”

Little amount of minutes for Mateus Mane, but a big impact. Should he be one of the first names in the starting XI against Brentford now?

If you are good enough, you are old enough.

While that sentiment was echoed with someone saying, “At last, a Wolves player who wants to go forward. He’s a must-start from now on.”

Another fan said, “I NEED him in the starting lineup . He has that IT factor you look for in a player . Rob just needs to trust in his abilities, and it will pay dividends.”

Some supporters fear the worst in regard to Jeff Shi and Mateus Mane, with one saying, “Don’t you dare sell him, Jeff.”

Finally, one fan kept it simple, stating, “This kid is special.”

The maturity needed to put in such an excellent delivery against a side known for their prowess defensively is proof that Mateus Mane is ready to start games moving forward.

He provided a decisive moment that has often been lacking from the Wanderers’ performances this season.

With Championship football looking likely, giving the young winger experience in the Premier League could be a vital step in his development.

Next season, he could end up being one of the most important members of this squad.
