There were several really strong performers for Wolves in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
Rob Edwards finally got his first point as manager, and the hope now is that he can start to get Wolves on the straight and narrow, with there being clear signs of improvement.
Wolves did well at Old Trafford.
This time, there were lots of chances created, and the defence was also really solid overall.
It was a performance not too many saw coming. Because Edwards was without several players, and he had to play a makeshift midfield.
That saw Jhon Arias and Mateus Mane play as a pair of eights.
And the latter again impressed fans.
Wolves fans thought Mateus Mane was the big standout vs Man United

Mane has been a breath of fresh air for Wolves since he finally started getting minutes a couple of months ago.
Vitor Pereira was reluctant to turn to him, preferring to go with more experienced players.
Watching Mane now, it is hard to understand why Pereira did not put his trust in the youngster, whose confidence is refreshing.
What did you make of Mateus Mane’s performance against Man United?
The Wolves gem caught Gary Neville's eye 🤝
Against United, Mane played as a number eight – a position he’s never played before, and did tremendously well.
He worked so hard alongside Joao Gomes and Arias, and he also showed some fancy footwork and tried to drive with the ball when he could, something Wolves have sorely lacked this season.
Gary Neville remarked that Mane was a good young talent during the game, and it likely won’t be long until more praise arrives from other top pundits in the game.
And his performance really resonated with fans. Molineux News ran a post-match poll with five options via our TalkingPoints platform, asking who people felt was the real standout, with the results as follows at the time of writing.
- Yerson Mosquera – 22%
- Hugo Bueno – 4%
- Jhon Arias – 5%
- Ladislav Krejci – 19%
- Mateus Mane – 46%
- Other – 3%
Mane Wolves’ main man
From out of nowhere, Mane has become the main man for Wolves.
Edwards has put faith in him and he is delivering every time he’s called upon, and at this point, he has to be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
It’s remarkable, because he only turned 18 a few months ago.
How far do you think Mateus Mane can go in the world of football?
Lee Naylor has put high huge pressure on him 👀
And yet he’s here now taking responsibility like he is, and showing the kind of confidence and quality that so many of the players in this squad haven’t this season.
Recently Edwards suggested that it will be important to protect Mane, which is understandable.
But if he keeps performing like this, he surely has to play every possible minute for Wolves.
