Wolves fans fume as star drops another ‘dreadful’ performance in Ipswich defeat

Wolves were defeated yet again in a concerning 2-1 loss to struggling Ipswich.

It was a massive game at Molineux on Saturday afternoon. After Fosun elected to back O’Neil before the match, everyone knew three points were needed.

Up against Ipswich, the two sides were both on nine points going into the match.

Yet, the Tractor Boys were comfortable for the majority of the game and went 1-0 up thanks to a comical Matt Doherty own goal.

While a Matheus Cunha goal sparked a late surge from the hosts, set-pieces once again let O’Neil’s side down as Jake Taylor scored from a corner with seconds to spare.

Many players in Old Gold shirts were dreadful throughout. However, one player who was particularly poor was Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.

A surprise inclusion in the starting XI was Bellegarde after a string of unimpressive performances from the Frenchman.

However, O’Neil kept faith with the midfielder as he started in a crunch match against the Tractor Boys.

Yet, this was not repaid and Bellegarde continuously gave the ball away before being hooked in the second half.

As a result, many of the Old Gold faithful were appalled by the performance and took to X, formerly Twitter, to express their anger.

Goncalo Guedes’ impact from the bench only continued to show up the Frenchman, as the substitute picked up yet another assist. Now, many are demanding that Bellegarde is dropped for the Portuguese winger going forward.

Very few players can say they performed to expectations vs Leicester. Most of the team looked beaten up until O’Neil brought on Tommy Doyle and Guedes.

Between them, these two helped bring Wolves back into the game and the hosts looked like winning it until added time.

Changes will be needed no matter who is in charge for Leicester and both Doyle and Guedes simply have to start.

The two have rarely had a bad game this season for Wolves despite the club’s form and could help the visitors be more positive on the field.
