Wolves fans are all saying the same thing about deadline day signing after his debut for the club

Wolves ran out comfortable winners against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park, booking their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup in the process.

The Old Gold survived a scare inside the opening 20 minutes when Championship side Blackburn saw a goal wrongfully disallowed, to secure a 2-0 win thanks to quickfire goals from Joao Gomes and Matheus Cunha.

The biggest talking point among Wolves fans during the game, however, was undoubtedly Marshall Munetsi’s maiden appearances for the club.

Signed on deadline day for a reported £16.6m, Munetsi joined as Mario Lemina’s replacement in the heart of Vitor Pereira’s side’s midfield, and fans got a glimpse of what they can expect from the former Reims man in that role against Blackburn on Sunday.

Munetsi came off the bench in the 66th minute and made an immediate impact with his clever use of the ball and his runs from deep into the final third. The midfielder actually came close to extending Wolves lead on a few occasions, coming particularly close to doing so when he headed a Rodrigo Gomes cross just wide in the 73rd minute.

Wolves fans ‘already love’ Marshall Munetsi thanks to impressive debut vs Blackburn

Wolves fans were notably impressed by Munetsi during his first 30 minute cameo in a Wolves shirt, with more than one taking to X/Twitter to declare their ‘love’ for the midfielder.

Some were even calling Munetsi the ‘world’s best footballer’ – albeit with tongues firmly in cheek while doing so.

Despite being on the pitch for just 30 minutes and technically playing as a defensive midfielder, Munetsi actually managed three efforts on goal in the game.

Marshall Munetsi’s stats vs Blackburn Rovers in his Wolves debut

As mentioned above, the 28-year-old was rather astonishingly active in the final third after replacing Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.

In total, Munetsi completed nine of his 11 passes (82%) and had 18 touches of the ball in a lively cameo off the bench. Two of said passes were made into the final third, while a surprising three of his touches of the ball were also in the opposition penalty area.
