Wolves clinched a 2-1 victory over Southampton in the Premier League, and the afternoon was dominated by Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Last weekend, in Wolves’ 1-1 draw against Everton, the Norwegian was criticised by some sections of the fanbase as he struggled up against the physical Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski.
Vitor Pereira later confirmed that Strand Larsen was suffering from an injury, explaining that the 25-year-old had a bandaged up broken hand.
It was a complete contrast in fortunes for Strand Larsen on Saturday afternoon, though, as the Celta Vigo loanee scored a brace at St Mary’s.
The first goal saw the towering centre-forward get on the end of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s excellent cross, guiding his header past Aaron Ramsdale.
Bellegarde then assisted Strand Larsen for his second, sweeping the ball home to hand Wolves a crucial three points.

Wolves fans praise Jorgen Strand Larsen vs Southampton
In his first campaign in the top-flight, Strand Larsen has returned a respectable nine goals. Some supporters have had mixed opinions on the striker but this afternoon, many were in agreement.
Throughout this season, there have been complaints about his lack of service; however, this afternoon, they were pleased Bellegarde supplied a quality cross into the box for his first goal, reacting to the moment on X, formerly Twitter.
“Cross the ball and Larsen scores. What a shock,” one fan wrote while another agreed: “Who would’ve thought crossing the ball in would work. Up the wolves.”
“Give Larsen the service and he’ll score goals like that,” a third replied.
Wow, JSL scores when he’s on the receiving end of a decent cross.

Imagine sending crosses in to a 6’4” striker. #wwfc #wolves
“Look at that. We put in our first decent cross in weeks and Larsen makes it look simple. His numbers would be better if we could just improve our delivery,” one fan commented.
“That is JSL’s game! And JRB’s,” a sixth exclaimed while a seventh said: “Finally some Proper service into the box to a No9.”

What Strand Larsen said after joining Wolves rings true
Strand Larsen isn’t the most technically gifted forward but his game doesn’t revolve around fancy flicks and creating chances himself.
He’s a hulking figure who relishes a physical battle against an opposition defender, and he’s also clinical in the air.
In the win over Southampton, he was able to flex his finishing attributes, scoring both with his head and right foot.
Therefore, what Strand Larsen said immediately after joining Wolves rings true, with the centre-forward highlighting qualities that he brings to the table.
“I’m a tall player, but I’m not only physical and be there to hold up the ball, I can also run and, most importantly, I fight for the team. I give everything 100 percent. If I have to lose three teeth in a game, then I will do it.”
Strand Larsen will hope to take this form into the clash against West Ham straight after the international break.
