Why Vitor Pereira was absolutely ‘furious’ with Nelson Semedo despite Wolves win vs Bournemouth

Matheus Cunha stole the headlines once again for Wolves as the Old Gold beat Bournemouth at the Vitality.

After Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton dropped points, it was imperative that Wolves earned a result against Bournemouth.

A result is exactly what the Old Gold earned and then some, picking up all three points to take back to the West Midlands in a resounding push in the race for survival.

Vitor Pereira’s game management was near-perfect as Cunha’s first-half goal was protected until the 90th minute.

Why Vitor Pereira was angry at Nelson Semedo during Bournemouth win

Many thought that Bournemouth would beat Wolves in their pre-match predictions but, Pereira ensured the script was written to his benefit.

The Old Gold dug deep to come away from the South Coast with three points, rocketing them to five points above the bottom three.

While Pereira was delighted with what his players produced at the Vitality, the Wolves manager wasn’t all smiles throughout the game.

Journalist Nathan Judah spotted something that made the boss ‘furious’ during the contest, reporting live from the press box.

“Semedo with a fantastic chance, desperately need to square it to Larsen. It’s a tame shot in the end & Pereira is furious.”

Captain Nelson Semedo had an encouraging chance to score to put Wolves 2-0 up in the second half but, made the wrong decision.

Pereira couldn’t believe what the defender did in the moment, which could’ve ended in an almost-certain goal as Jorgen Strand Larsen was waiting in support.

Semedo heavily involved in Wolves win vs Bournemouth

While Pereira was frustrated by Semedo’s decision-making in that moment, there can’t be too many complaints from the manager when it comes to the 31-year-old’s overall performance.

As seen above, Semedo was playing at a high level in different areas of the pitch, being both an attacking threat and defensively strong on the right side.

Wolves are fortunate to have their captain performing at the level he is this season, making the decision over his future even more difficult, as Semedo nears the end of his contract

For now, the Old Gold will cherish the time they have with the former Barcelona defender, who is consistently bringing his all on a match day, as seen once more against Bournemouth.
