Wolves are taking on Newcastle United today – and there is no Pablo Sarabia in the matchday squad for Wolves.
The Spaniard has not been selected by Julen Lopetetui for the clash with the Magpies at St. James’ Park.
Lopetegui confirmed in his pre-match interview: “Sarabia has a little problem in the last two days. That’s why he has stayed in Wolverhampton. He’s not here.”
According to injury analyst Ben Dinnery, Sarabia has a heel problem.
The Wolves team news is in and Adama Traore is starting for Wanderers on the right side. Daniel Podence is back in the starting XI after missing out entirely against Tottenham Hotspur.
Sarabia is a player Lopetegui has been quite keen to use since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain.
After sitting on the bench and coming on against Manchester City for his first game, the 30-year-old has started all of Wolves’ last six games in the Premier League.
His absence today gives an opportunity to both Podence and Traore to really stake their claims to be starters.
Both players have been used more from the bench recently.
There is also Pedro Neto and Hwang Hee-chan on the bench today.
Lopetegui can also call on Rayan Ait-Nouri to play as a left winger if he wanted. Matheus Cunha has also operated there before.
