What Wolves fans did to Conor Coady at Molineux during 3-0 win over Leicester

Wolves continued their stunning form on Saturday, beating Leicester City 3-0 at Molineux – meaning an unhappy return for former captain Conor Coady.

Wolves made it six wins in a row in the Premier League and moved up to 13th place in the table.

The last time Wolves had a winning run this long in the top-flight was all the way back in 1970 (September-October).

Wolves were simply no match for already-relegated Leicester.

It was a dominant performance at Molineux, that saw Matheus Cunha, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Rodrigo Gomes all score for the hosts.

Leicester were beaten comfortably, and it cannot have been a nice experience for Conor Coady – although something did happen that likely would have meant a lot to him.

Coady left Wolves in the summer of 2023, having spent the previous season out on loan with Everton.

He was not in the plans of Julen Lopetegui, so the decision was taken to sell him to Leicester. Lopetegui, of course, then ended up walking, with Gary O’Neil coming in.

It certainly would have been interesting had O’Neil replaced Lopetegui before a decision was taken on Coady, and if that would have seen him stay.

Since leaving the club, Coady has maintained a good relationship with the Wolves fans, and spoken very positively about his time at the club.

Yesterday was his first time playing against Wolves back at Molineux – and he was well received by the home fans.

In the 66th minute of the game, Wolves fans could be heard signing their famous song for Coady, which features the lyric ‘he’s Wanderers through and through’.

After the full-time whistle, Coady applauded the Wolves fans.

Coady deserved great reception at Molineux

Coady was also booed at Molineux, but these were clearly ironic.

Because Coady was a very popular figure at Wolves during his time at the club and was an exceptional captain, leading the club to some brilliant times.

He always gave his all for the club, so it was only right he did receive a show of affection from the Molineux faithful yesterday.

Coady was linked with a shock return to Wolves in January, and some have suggested the club should consider trying to re-sign him in the summer.

Craig Dawson will leave the club, so there may be scope for Coady to replace the veteran.
