What Toti Gomes did to anger Ipswich fans as Wolves star makes relegation feelings crystal clear

Wolves took a leap away from the relegation zone against Ipswich Town, and Toti Gomes loved it.

The Old Gold can confirm Premier League survival as early as their meeting with Manchester City on the first matchday of May.

Vitor Pereira has transformed Wolves since his arrival, with another step in the right direction taken against Ipswich on matchday 31.

Wolves beat Ipswich 2-1 at Portman Road, coming from behind to hand Kieran McKenna’s side a significant blow and extend the gap between 17th and 18th to 12 points.

Troy Deeney spots Toti Gomes moment with Ipswich fans

Just like the Wolves fans in the away end, Pereira enjoyed the win from the stands due to his suspension.

The away end at Portman Road was joyous at full-time as the Old Gold recorded their third consecutive Premier League win, a result that was celebrated by more than just the fans.

Watching the game was Troy Deeney, who revealed to talkSPORT how Toti Gomes celebrated the victory, an eruption of joy that saw the Wolves centre-back land himself in hot water with the home supporters.

Deeney reported that Ipswich fans were trying to ‘have a word with Toti’ after the Portugal international brutally taunted supporters.

“Just looking down there at the pitch, it looks like a few Ipswich fans try to have a word with Toti, the Wolves centre-back was unnecessarily letting them all know that they are going down,” Deeney said.

“It’s a great day for Wolves, but Ipswich… unfortunately, I think Simon Jordan said it great earlier in the week – the three teams that have come up have been pathetic.”

There has been some animosity between Wolves and Ipswich after the ugly scenes that broke out after the Tractor Boys’ late win at Molineux in December, a defeat that marked Gary O’Neil’s last in charge.

Toti made his presence known at Portman Road

Toti was jubilant to be on the winning side this time around, as the defender communicated his thoughts on the relegation battle clearly.

It wasn’t only the win and what three points meant to Wolves on matchday 31 that would’ve pleased Toti, who was instrumental on the left side of defence over 90 minutes.

As seen above, Toti was impressive against Ipswich, winning five duels and recording seven clearances in a statement display at the back.

The 26-year-old is going from strength to strength under Pereira, building form to prove his worth to the manager.
