What Matheus Cunha did at full-time that Wolves fans may have missed vs Man United

Wolves fans did a brilliant job of getting their point across during the Manchester United clash, and Matheus Cunha even showed his appreciation.

The protest led by Wolves fans outside the Billy Wright Stand went rather well, as supporters slowly filtered into a rather empty Molineux after 15 minutes.

It’s a clear sign to Jeff Shi and Fosun that it’s time to pack up and go. This club has gone from challenging in the Europa League to now being a selling club, and the results are evidence of that.

In arguably one of the worst performances of the season from Wolves, it didn’t take long for Rob Edwards to call out the ‘kids game’ he witnessed on the pitch.

And what summed it up even more was the fact that Jorgen Strand Larsen was seen seemingly fuming at Wolves fans for their response to his substitution.

However, Matheus Cunha kept it classy on his return to Molineux.

Matheus Cunha pays his respect to Wolves at full-time

Matheus Cunha suffered from the negativity that currently surrounds Wolves as he was the subject of boos during the 4-1 loss to Manchester United.

However, he did show his class on Instagram after the game. Cunha thanked Wolves fans for their support upon his return, which did confuse quite a few people.

There was confusion at him seemingly not hearing the boos, but it all makes sense now, as the Brazilian stayed behind after full-time to clap those who remained in the stadium and the South Bank.

Samuel Luckhurst shared the footage of Cunha saying an emotional goodbye on his X account.

A bittersweet moment for Cunha, who witnessed a club that did so much for him in freefall after his exit.

Was Matheus Cunha ever going to stay at Wolves?

Wolves had Matheus Cunha sign a new deal last season amid speculation over his future, but the contract did include a buyout clause that any side could trigger.

Manchester United came forward, and it was a no-brainer for the attacker, who saw a move to Old Trafford as the next step for his career.

It’s a shame that the ambitions of the club had faltered, and so had the performances on the field. Cunha has gone from a relegation battle every year to challenging for Europe. We can hardly blame him.

Despite selling Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Matheus Nunes and a host of other players, Wolves have made a profit for the past two seasons, highlighting the lack of willingness to reinvest properly.
