Vitor Pereira ‘not expecting’ three Wolves players to be available for Newcastle trip, Emmanuel Agbadou set for Premier League debut

Wolves booked their place in the FA Cup Fourth Round with a win over Bristol City and will now prepare to face Newcastle United in the Premier League.

The Old Gold edged their way past Liam Manning’s Robins with a 2-1 victory following goals from Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rodrigo Gomes.

Next up for the Midlands giants is a tough away league tie against Eddie Howe’s in-form Magpies.

And Vitor Pereira’s task will be even harder after he confirmed he is expecting to be without three Wolves first-team defenders.

Vitor Pereira suspects Wolves trio will miss Newcastle United game

Toti Gomes, Craig Dawson and Nelson Semedo were absent for Wolves’ FA Cup tie away to Bristol City.

The trio are all injured. Gomes picked up a thigh injury last month with Dawson and Semedo both suffering knocks earlier this month.

And although there was hope at least one of the three could return in time for Wednesday night’s clash at St. James’ Park, Pereira has revealed they’ll need more time.

Even though it is disappointing to hear three of Wolves’ most senior and experienced players are still on the treatment table, there will be a Premier League debut for one new signing.

Emmanuel Agbadou set for Premier League debut

January signing Emmanuel Agbadou made his Wolves debut against Bristol City and put on a solid display.

“Agbadou’s performance was consistent, not easy on the left hand side at centre-back, but he did well – he knows the ball never stops, no time to breathe and he realised today the speed of the game,” the Wolves manager said after the game.

Now, following injuries to several defenders, Agbadou will be preparing to make his second start in quick succession.

The 27-year-old will be tasked with stopping Newcastle United in mid-week in a match that could see the Old Gold move up to 16th.

Pereira recently warned Agbadou want to expect playing in the Premier League.

The Portuguese tactician will be hoping his new signing heeds his warning. Newcastle United are notoriously devastating, especially on the counter-attacker. Failure to keep his concentration will almost certainly put his new side under pressure.

Therefore, it goes without saying, Agbadou and his new Wolves teammates will need to be at their absolute best if they’re to take anything back to the Midlands.
