Wolverhampton Wanderers have ended their winless run in the Premier League, beating Arsenal 2-1 at Molineux.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side claimed a badly needed three points against the Gunners in the Black Country, with goals coming from Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.
Arsenal took the lead through Nicolas Pepe and it could easily have been another defensive struggle for Wolves, who were back in their back four system for the clash.
But there was a huge turning point on the stroke of half-time, with David Luiz seeing red for bringing down Willian Jose, who was in on goal.
Neves converted the spot-kick, and Wolves were then in a great position with a one-man advantage.
Moutinho, much-maligned in recent weeks, produced a moment of sheer brilliance shortly after the restart, unleashing a fizzing drive from distance that went in off Bernd Leno’s post for his first home goal for the club. It was truly goal that would have sent a full Molineux into meltdown.
The German goalkeeper was then sent off after a bizarre misjudgement saw him handle outside his box, with Adama Traore in a goalscoring position.
It was a huge win for Wolves, who can hopefully now enjoy a good run after their recent struggles.
Some Wolves fans and also neutrals were particularly impressed with the performance of winger Pedro Neto.
Once again the 20-year-old stood out for the hosts, and was extremely lively in the second half especially.
According to Sofascore, Neto completed 93% of his passes (43/46), won six out of his nine duels and five out of six dribbles.
