Some Wolverhampton Wanderers fans are discussing a potential turning point int he club’s season, after Willian Jose played a part in last night’s 2-1 win over Arsenal.
The Brazilian striker was handed his full home debut by Nuno Espirito Santo following his loan move from Real Sociedad.
The 29-year-old is tasked with being Raul Jimenez’s replacement at Molineux while the Mexican recuperates from his fractured skull, and the early signs are good.
Jose didn’t get on the scoresheet last night, but he undoubtedly impacted the game.
It was he that made the run and won the penalty for Wolves at 0-1, with David Luiz earning a red card in the process.
In general, Jose was impressive at Molineux and he clearly already has a good understanding with some of his new teammates.
The ace has a great first touch and is always looking to pop the ball off and then take up a position in the box.
On the evidence of last night, it is only a matter of time before he gets off the mark.
Wolves have shown that when they play with a back four, they create chances and Jose potentially stands to score quite a few between now and the end of the season.
On social media, fans have been giving their reactions to Jose’s first appearance at Molineux, and it’s safe to say a few people are very excited by what they’ve seen so far:
A very selfless performance for the team, with some moments of quality as well.
Strong, tidy & gave Arsenal something to think about, which allowed others around him to play.
A perfectly timed run for the penalty as well, well played that man.

#wwfc must take up the option of @WillianJose. Having him and Raùl as options in a game is what #wolves need. This is the Premier league and these two plus Silva gives us options as well as essential cover. Come on Jeff, you know this makes sense.

A word for @WillianJose as well, who was also very good tonight. Some nice hold up play and linking with midfield. Wanted him to score the first, but team play in our system is important as well 👍🏼 #wwfc

You can visibly see our forwards gaining in confidence now as they realise they have a striker that is actually Premier League level again. Just need to supply Willian Jose with a better end product now and he’ll be feasting. #wwfc

First red card changed the game but still had to control the game where its easy to get complacent, Willian Jose makes a huge difference #wwfc

Just want to say what a shrewd signing Willian Jose was. Just what we needed and feel sure he will grow more and more into this team – phew #wwfc
