Remarkable Jose Sa statistic emerges after Wolves masterclass vs Nottingham Forest

Jose Sa was nothing short of sensational in goal for Wolves as they managed to snatch an unlikely point against Nottingham Forest.

Wanderers drew 0-0 with Forest at The City Ground, giving another dreadful performance.

The Reds totally dominated at home, but they could not take all three points. And as a result of that, Sean Dyche has now been sacked by Evangelos Marinakis.

The main reason Wolves came out of the game with a point was because of Jose Sa, who had one of his best ever games for the club.

In a match where the home side peppered Wolves’ goal with 35 shots, Sa stood tall, pulling off 10 saves to secure only the Old Gold’s third clean sheet of the season.

Despite the onslaught from Forest, Wolves’ defensive resilience, led by Sa’s commanding presence between the sticks, was commendable.

Remarkably, those 10 saves were the most by any goalkeeper in a single Premier League game this season.

Undoubtedly he played his part in frustrating Forest, whose 35 shots without scoring was the most by a club since Manchester United 38 in their 0-0 draw with Burnley in 2016 (via Opta).

Sa’s performance, while a beacon of hope, highlights the need for consistency across the team. Wolves can’t rely solely on their keeper to bail them out; the squad needs to find a way to convert such defensive displays into victories.

Sa reacts after masterclass vs Nottingham Forest

After the game, Sa gave his thoughts after his stunning display.

He said (via Wolves official): “I’m proud that I didn’t concede and I helped my team to get one point, at least.

Sa’s performance against Forest was a masterclass in goalkeeping. And one of the standout moments came when he pulled off a remarkable double save to deny Morato.

“I don’t know what happened. I haven’t watched it back yet, but it all happened very fast,” Sa admitted, still in disbelief at his own reflexes.

Forest threw everything they had at Wolves, but Sa was equal to the task. His ability to stay composed under pressure and make crucial saves kept Wolves in the game.

Wolves look to Grimsby FA Cup clash

With the FA Cup clash against Grimsby Town on the horizon, Wolves have a chance to regroup and refocus.

A break from the Premier League could be just what they need to regain some confidence and momentum. Sa himself mentioned, “It’ll be nice to have a break from the Premier League. We need it.”

The challenge now is to carry the fighting spirit displayed against Forest into future matches. Wolves have shown they can hold their own defensively, but they need to translate that into securing more points.
