Predicted Wolves XI to face Fulham as Jorgen Strand Larsen and Tolu Arokodare decision made

After exiting the Carabao Cup to Chelsea, it is a return to Premier League action for Wolves as they travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham.

As things stand, a first win of the season still eludes Vitor Pereira, and that has left them bottom of the table.

They’ll be looking to finally get going when they face Fulham, and there has never been a better time to face them, but the Old Gold’s opponents will be thinking the same about Wolves.

Marco Silva’s side are just six points above them and sit in 17th place. A win would halve the deficit to the Cottagers and bring Pereira that step closer to climbing out of the relegation zone.

History suggests a Wolves win, but that does not provide the context of current form, and the head coach must get his selection right.

He made 11 changes against Chelsea, which backfired in the first half, as they went 3-0 down. Pereira took responsibility, and that will give hope that he will get this weekend’s team correct.

Here is Molineux News’ version of what that team could look like.

Vitor Pereira reverts to a back five

The back four formation showed promise for Wolves, but despite a slight improvement in performance, the results still did not arrive.

The head coach went to a back five against Chelsea in the second half, and the shape looked quite good.

Sam Johnstone will keep his place in goal, with Jose Sa far from impressing on Wednesday night. Toti Gomes, Santiago Bueno, and Emmanuel Agbadou will come in to form the central defensive line.

Toti and Agbadou looked much better than they have previously this season, and that will prompt Pereira to trust the pair again.

Jackson Tchatchoua and David Moller Wolfe will be selected as the right and left wingbacks with Matt Doherty out injured, and Wolfe scoring twice against Chelsea.

Ladislav Krejci returns to midfield

On Wednesday night, Ladislav Krejci played in midfield after coming off the bench, and with Wolves looking much better, you would expect Pereira to do the same against Fulham.

Andre and Joao Gomes will partner him to make a midfield three, but the decision is not quite straightforward.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Marshall Munetsi are both in contention, with the Haitian being one of the better performers against Burnley and the Zimbabwean a Pereira favourite.

Dual strikers from the start

With Wolves struggling to score goals, Vitor Pereira may opt to start both of his centre forwards. The pair played together for 13 minutes against Chelsea.

With Tolu Arokodare scoring against the Blues, the Nigerian simply must start to allow him to ride a wave of form.

The qualities of Jorgen Strand Larsen are also still clear, and benching him after he also scored in the last league game does not make sense either.

Pereira has hinted at the pair playing together, and this could be the opportunity to do that.

This starting XI would also give the head coach plenty of options off the bench with Jhon Arias, Marshall Munetsi, Fer Lopez, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde available.

Predicted XI vs Fulham: Johnstone: Tchatchoua, Toti Gomes, Agbadou, S. Bueno, Moller Wolfe: Krejci, Andre, J. Gomes: Strand Larsen, Arokodare.
