Powerful scenes outside the Billy Wright Stand at Molineux as Wolves fans protest against Fosun

Wolves are taking on Manchester United tonight in the Premier League, and fans have protested against owners Fosun.

The Old Gold are currently in action, and are looking to finally get their first victory of the season.

Rob Edwards is seeking a win in his fourth game, and it is a first return to Molineux for former attacker Matheus Cunha.

But there is perhaps a bigger narrative tonight than the Brazilian’s return.

In the days leading up to this game, Wolves fans on social media had been talking about protesting against owners for overseeing the club’s demise, which has been happening for the past few years.

Fans have been very vocal in most games this season, often chanting for Fosun to sell up.

But tonight, the most powerful scenes yet have taken place.

Shortly after the defeat to Nottingham Forest, there were murmurs of boycotting the game against United.

In the days following, the momentum really gathered, and then, multiple fan groups released a joint statement signaling the intent to protest peacefully.

And tonight, we have seen the result of the coordination and organisation online, with fans in their droves gathering outside the Billy Wright stand at Molineux.

Journalist Liam Keen reported that there were ‘lots of empty seats inside Molineux with 15 mins until kick-off’.

Once again, there were constant chants of ‘We want Fosun out’, which continued inside the stadium once the game had kicked off. ‘You’ve sold the team, now sell the club’ chants could also be heard.

One suspects that this will not be the end of the demonstrations from Wolves fans against Fosun this season.

Arguably, the fury towards them has never been as strong as it is now, and many will not rest until they decide to sell up.
