Player ratings vs Man United, two 8/10s as Pablo Sarabia scores stunner to send Wolves 15th

Wolves have beaten Manchester United 1-0 in the Premier League, to make it five wins in a row, move up to 16th in the table and guarantee safety.

The first-half saw both sides rather cancel each other out, although United showed more threat.

Wolves gave away a few free-kicks, but the hosts did not make the most of them. There were also a couple of decent deliveries but poor movement.

That would have disappointed Ruben Amorim, with Wolves bringing in Dan Bentley to replace the injured Jose Sa at the last minute.

In the second-half Wolves got on the ball a bit more.

But Wanderers remained lethargic and struggled to break United down.

The game was going to need a moment of quality – and it finally arrived in the form of Pablo Sarabia, on as a substitute, to curl in a beautiful free-kick.

The Spaniard recently came in clutch against Ipswich Town, and again put in a significant cameo for Wanderers at Old Trafford.

Dan Bentley – 6/10

Brought into the starting XI at the eleventh hour after an injury to Jose Sa in the warm-up. Looked slightly nervous on set-pieces, but ultimately wasn’t tested much.

Santiago Bueno – 7/10

Did well on the right of Wolves’ three-man defence in place of Matt Doherty.

Emmanuel Agbadou – 7/10

Agbadou gave away a few fouls but was solid throughout again. Did get spun once by Rasmus Hojlund, but Toti was on hand to cut out the danger.

Toti Gomes – 8/10

Toti was wonderful at the back for Wolves. Mopped up a couple of times for Agbadou, and brilliantly snuffed out one United counter with Hojlund.

Nelson Semedo – 5/10

Would have fancied his chances against Harry Amass and Tyler Fredricson, but the United youngsters kept the Wanderers captain very quiet. Substituted for Rodrigo Gomes.

Rayan Ait-Nouri – 6/10

Not a great deal of influence from the Algerian. Booked, substituted for Matt Doherty.

Joao Gomes – 6/10

Gomes was actually pretty quiet for once for Wolves.

Andre – 7/10

Bit quiet in the first-half but got a hold of the game a bit more in the second. Booked.

Marshall Munetsi – 6/10

A lot of running as usual but he struggled to get into the contest.

Matheus Cunha – 6/10

Cunha was back in the starting XI in place of the injured Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, against a side who supposedly want to sign him. If this was an audition, then the Brazilian didn’t make much of an impression. That said, he made not have needed to make one for United to still push for his signature this summer, given the season he’s had.

He did win the free-kick that led to Sarabia scoring, though.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 5/10

Wolves’ most in-form player was nullified by Vitor Lindelof. Substituted for Pablo Sarabia.

Substitutes

Rodrigo Gomes – 6/10

Worked hard, should have done so much better with the counter-attack Wolves had in injury-time.

Pablo Sarabia – 8/10

A sublime free-kick that earned Wolves the win. Out of contract in the summer, will Molineux officials be scrambled to hand him an extension?

Matt Doherty – N/A

Nasser Djiga – N/A
