One player the standout as Wolves hold out for a 0-0 draw at Brighton

A mixed set of Wolves player ratings after Gary O’Neil’s side saw out a 0-0 draw away to Brighton.

In a tough game down south, Wolves did enough to see out a draw away to the Seagulls and continue their unbeaten run.

It was the first game Gary O’Neil’s side played in the Premier League in 2024 after the winter break and the FA Cup.

Despite limited possession, the Molineux side had plenty of chances and arguably should have won it late on. Matheus Cunha was unable to replicate his recent form as he spurred a brilliant chance.

However, Wolves will take the point as they close in on the top half. Below are what we rated the players after earning their point.

GK – Jose Sa – 6/10

Sa wasn’t really troubled in between the sticks as the defence kept the backline secure throughout. However, the goalkeeper certainly needs to work on his distribution with many balls going out of play.

RWB – Nelson Semedo – 7/10

Semedo continued with his great run of form and produced another fantastic challenge to prevent Wolves from going 1-0 down in the second half.

CB – Max Kilman – 7/10

Another star performer. Kilman didn’t allow Brighton to have any room inside the box. The captain made an excellent challenge to stop Danny Welbeck from having an easy chance as he deflected the ball onto the post.

CB – Craig Dawson – 6/10

Dawson came into the side and remained an experienced head in the middle of the defence as they saw out the 0-0.

CB – Toti Gomes – 7/10

Once again, Toti Gomes has barely put a foot wrong. Up against a Brighton side full of possession, the defender kept his concentration throughout to keep the clean sheet.

LWB – Matt Doherty – 5/10

Left-wing-back just does not seem to suit Doherty. The Irishman seemed to give away a few balls in good positions and was also caught out on occasion.

CM – Mario Lemina – 6/10

Returning to the starting XI, Lemina did little wrong and could have won it late on as his shot was well saved by the ‘keeper.

CM – Tommy Doyle – 8/10

Was the hero early on as he cleared the ball off the line. In the middle, he played some great adventurous balls to try and get his side forward. Doyle was by far Wolves’ best player and did everything in his power to try and push for a winner.

RW – Pablo Sarabia – 6/10

Cunha was unlucky not to open the scoring at the start of the second half. However, the Brazilian should have definitely netted a late winner as he was played through but fumbled the opportunity of the game.

ST – Pedro Neto – 7/10

Didn’t have one of his best games this season but still Wolves’ biggest threat among the front three. After making the most of a series of half-chances, Neto should have had another assist late on as he flashed the ball across the face of the goal.

LW – Matheus Cunha – 5/10

Had some moments of quality but sadly these were rare against the Seagulls. The counter-attacking game that Wolves set out to do did not seemingly suit the winger.

Didn’t have time to make an impact.
